Making effective rules for communication is not preaching SW. Since you forgot your dictionary, here's what mine says about preaching.
1. To deliver a sermon.
2. To give religious or moral instruction, especially in a tedious manner.

We are indeed establishing guidelines for good communication, it's called developing effective communication.

Your pessimism and quips aren't very productive in this case min, but I'm sure you'll get some laughs. Meantime, can the big boys actually try and get something positive done? Tongue Big Grin

If I had posted an identical thread giving tips to atheists on how to talk to theists I'd be rightly accused of preaching as well. Let's be fair here. I don’t see anything wrong with preaching; I am just calling a spade a spade.

Stat, if you called them "tips," I am not entirely sure people would say you were preaching. However, I am certain they would dismiss it.

I do see something wrong with preaching, and this is not it. They aren't rules. Shit, they aren't even really guidelines. These are simply tips and facts, meant to help theists understand why some ways of communicating are not working. As was already pointed out in this thread, there is already something like this for theists here. Obviously, you have neglected to read it. Tongue

I did a lot of revising my original post, including a lot of your changes, and even including a little expansion on some of your additions, like your list of things to not do. I even added some humour to the list, like the last item: Having a paragraph of 38 sentences without having the courtesy of being an award-winning German author. Admittedly, if you read German lit, the joke works much better.

Nah. All you are doing is trying to slip your vision of a less vindictive 'god' into the mix. I'm onto you, Tack.
