So how do you all feel about McCain's VP choice? It's clear that in his choice he was attempting to attract Hilary supporters with his choice of a female and at the same time sooth the ultra conservatives by picking someone just as strong in her conservative ways as them. Do you think this will help McCain or backfire?

Here are some news articles on the matter:

The VP choice that lost the Presidency
- I tend to agree with the views here, I think the pick is more damaging then helpful.

Is Palin a good choice?
- Argues why Palin could be underestimated and help McCain

Atheist Revolution's take on Sarah Palin
- Outlines specific points on why Sarah Palin is BAD for America especially where atheists are concerned.

Palin's 17 yr old Daughter is Pregnant
-Oh the irony

In the end, I find Sarah Palin to possibly be worse than Mit Romney (and I had to endure that man as Governor of my state!) My hope is McCain's surprising choice will be his downfall. Ultra Conservatives don't favor change and even if they share Sarah's views I think they're still not ready for a woman VP who could very well be President given McCain's age. In fact, the possibility of McCain becoming president scares me more now than before he chose Palin.

RE: Sarah Palin
First off, I'm not American so I'm not 100% on top of things but...

It seems like a cynical, shallow attempt to please a whole bunch of people, female voters, conservatives etc. If Palin had been at all known before it might have helped but she is a complete nobody come from nowhere.

It's a shame that the historic position of first female Rep. running mate is this shallow bimbo.

I think it's great that a supporter of abstinence-only sex education had the entire flawed system plow straight through her. Maybe next time she'll teach her children about condoms...oh wait, no she won't.

What I think is absolutely disgusting about McCain is that he knew about this before he chose her for the job. Not only that, but he knew how the press would react to this news. He has exposed an innocent pregnant 17 year old to the press and to the world as an example of how "everyone makes mistakes". Sarah Palin must have realized what would happen as well before taking the job, so she put her personal gain over the needs of her daughter. I think she needs to retake whatever "Family Values" course she went to.

RE: Sarah Palin
One of my friends posted in the LJ about how she felt about the pregnancy stuff arguing how it's disgusting it's all about Sarah Palin's daughter and no one cares about the girl and how the pregnancy is the girl's problem not America's. I explained to her why it was such a big deal and that it has almost NOTHING to do with Palin's daughter and everything to do with the statement it makes on her politics. It's absolutely disgusting that a 17 yr old girl is publicized like this. I feel so bad for the girl.

I actually just finished writing a blog post about Sarah Palin. She ticks me off something fierce.

I thought Obama's joke about lipstick and the pig was very hurtful.
What has a pig ever done to deserve that?

Politics in my view is like religion, useless. It is run by a bunch of rich over bloated jerk offs whose only interest is themselves. In my opinion it does not matter who you put in the White House since the Congress and the Senate always gets it's way.The president has alot of power on paper but when it comes time to exercise that power he is usually shot down or manipulated to do what the House or Senate want.
There is nothing people will not maintain when they are slaves to superstition
