Who says the USA is a developed nation? Massive amounts of poverty, anti-science oganisations gutting school curricula, politicians who pray for rain (such as Tex. Gov. Rick Perry).

My village streets here are all dirt, there is no public transportation, they're trying to close the post office and make this epilepsy-suffer go fifteen miles one way for his mail, no TV or Radio stations, no chance for a real high speed Internet network such as the UK or Japan or South Korea.

Wealth concentrated in the hands of the few, infrastructure such as the Chicago Skyway being sold to foreign companies. I submit this is not a developed nation. We have some toys we borrowed the money for, and a frightfully large military, but that is all.

People in developed countries are educated about science, which together with a deep ignorance of religion leads them to reach an absurd position to it (ie scientific). They are simply unable to think past their indoctrination.

Atheism even in developed nations is a minority world-view, a lot of people while rejecting religions such as Christianity and Islam, are still open to believing all sorts of nonsense which leads to parents not vaccinating their children or people to prefer using homoeopathy over conventional medical treatments.

Our society needs people to be more scientifically informed, not less. So that people are far less likely to believe in this sort of non-sense.

What, you mean "goddidit" isn't the sort of TOE that would lead to the betterment of the lives of humanity as whole. News to some.

Religion has nothing to do with science. Increased knowledge of science =/= increaqsed knowledge of religion, and vice versa. Like yourself... obviously ignorant of a subject yet willing to denounce it from ignorance. Education is key. Burning books is for morons.

So who is really gaining by Africa becoming a predominantly Christian continent? Is is for control? Natural Resources? Why not increase literacy rates and education instead of feeding them.. well garbage.

My take is that uneducated and impoverished masses are attracted by the hope of an afterlife better than the shit one they have. At the same time, the well off masses who sign on to religion do so for their own ends.

Except when religion or the religious make a claim that provides us with a testable hypothesis. Increasing your knowledge of science does in fact increase your knowledge of religion.

I do however agree wholeheartedly that increasing your knowledge of religion will do nothing for your knowledge of science.

Whats the deal, isn't everyone on the forums here an example of the US's ability to indoctrinate the youth, creating a godless society of atheists by state mandate?
