What 'force' was this?

RE: What 'force' was this?
The combined energies of the people around you? Cox, you had an experience that was completely internal. It was not a "force".
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Thinking

Well, all things considered so far, I'm not convinced it was God, and I'm not convinced it was 'completely internal', as you put it.

You'll be convinced (or unconvinced) about whatever you like, but there it is. There is no plausible explanation for your experience that is not internal. In fact, it is a well known and well studied experience, found to be internal. If you have some new external force that you would like to propose, be my guest.

Those studies are ongoing and are not necessarily representative of what I experienced. I'm not proposing a 'new' external force.

All studies are ongoing. You're going to stretch my "never leave a man behind" business. Propose your force, your mechanism, your source, whatever you like. Since no explanation thus far has satisfied you. We'll go through your rough ideas one by one.
1: It was not a raygun in the ceiling (though this is easily as plausible as the supernatural)

2: It was not the "kinetic energy" of the people around you, else you should re-write your story as to make it clear that you were pushed down.

3: It was, of course, again, in your head.

Which one would you bet the farm on?

I'm quite happy for you to leave me to my 'undecidedness'.

There it is, you'd rather wonder than know. Understandable. As long as we're wondering, the field is open, could be anything. Of course if it were something common, something mundane, well, that cuts out a few of the more pleasant possibilities doesn't it?

Never ask a question unless you're sure that you want the answer.

Eh, give him time Rhythm. The fact that he is not declaring it to be god as a certainty can be marked down in the win column.

You do like to claim to know how my mind works. No, I would not rather wonder than know the truth. Many plausible explanations have been offered and it's got to be one of them. We've covered all of them I think, so there's not really any where else to go with this now.
At this point in time I am still unsure of which of the explanations it was. It's no big deal. Tongue
