This is kind of a bummer for young earth theorists, but what exactly about the logic of this article will the brothers-in-Christ never read or understand? The age of the universe? I'm really not trying to be difficult here, but the article is just pretty basic physics. I didn't really see anything all that troubling about it. I actually liked it. P.S. - If you like physics, have you ever read the book "How to teach quantum physics to your dog"? It's really entertaining. RE: Incredulous Logic

Quote:So Jesus was just an ancient David Copperfield?Pretty much. A compulsive liar who got what he deserved. It was the Romans fault for turning him into a fucking martyr though. Killing him in front of his supporters was a bloody mistake. If they made him simply...disappear, christianity may never of happened. Quote: I find that pretty tough to believe.Of course you do, you're against facts. Your standards are extremely low. Quote:There is lots of evidence believers accept for Christ's resurrection, there is no evidence you will accept given your worldview. No, it's because I have far higher standards than you. I run under scientific principles, Occam's Razer, credible evidence (verifiable evidence) and the such. You and many like you don't ask for such things, you'll be more than happy to take it all on faith alone, no problems when it comes to taking people's word for it. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and if you claim without evidence, it can be dismissed without evidence. Quote:The infallible Triune God of scripture who cannot lie says that Thor does not exist; you can't have better proof than that. And if this "infallible Triune Scripture" said you won't die if you jump off a cliff? You'll take it's word for it? Your standards are so fucking low, it's pathetic. That's not proof, that's just some bastard writing shit in some book and claiming it was god. Now prove Thor does not exist. Besides, I had a personal experience of Thor, he took me up and into great Valhalla's Hall. He told me that every other religion is false and that every christian and muslim will perish in hell. Now, disprove it if you can. Quote:Man was created in the image of God,Why would god have an image? Quote: so to call God a man is as backwards as calling Walt Disney a cartoon character. And yet he was created by man. Quote:god is omnipresent, If that's the case, then he must of watched women raped, children molested, people murdered but did fuck all? Ever heard of the immoral of inaction? It's like I saw a child fall down the well, and though I have the power to pull him out, I don't and I simply walk away as if nothing happened. People world over would hate my guts, so why does god get a free pass? What's his excuse for not acting? One more question for which is a little hard for believers to answer. What is the purpose of god? Why does he exist?
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan
Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity. Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist. You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them. (That was of course a quote from the original link I sent, had you bothered to read it.) Not sure where you went to high school but…the round trip speed of light has been directly measured yes, you are committing equivocation though. You are arguing that the one way speed of light has been proven to be uniform and then pointing to the proof for the round trip speed of light. It is impossible to directly measure the one way speed of light; it has to be assumed to be the same in all directions relative to the observer. The Einstein Synchrony Convention assumes that light moves uniformly in all directions in relation to the observer so it cannot therefore be used to prove that light moves at the same in all directions relative to the observer. Who said anything about a round trip Statler, I was suggesting a one-way excursion. Feel free to pick any celestial object that you like, if you wish to disagree about the speed (as has already been suggested).

Sometimes I swear you are a Christian just poking fun at atheism by posting this sort of stuff. 1. There is so much evidence for Christ that even Dawkins himself admits Jesus was a real person. The Historian Luke confirms Christ’s existence and miracles. 2. Youtube videos? Really? Archeology is not an infallible standard of truth, so it cannot be used to “prove” anything to be fallible. You are going to have to do better on that one. 3. The claim that the sky was where God “lived”, that is not supported anywhere in scripture, so it is a false representation of the Biblical God and therefore a straw man. Red herring, your claim was that you could witness ancient events from other points in the universe but this assumes that light travels uniformly in all directions relative to an observer which is something you cannot prove. If they made him simply...disappear, christianity may never of happened.Actually Christ got what he didn’t deserve so you can get better than you actually deserve. Any evidence he was a liar? Seems like a pretty bold assertion that would require some evidence. Quote:So if I am against facts that means that Jesus being some form of magician is a fact. So where is your evidence proving this? Quote: No, it's because I have far higher standards than you. I run under scientific principles, Occam's Razer, credible evidence (verifiable evidence) and the such. You and many like you don't ask for such things, you'll be more than happy to take it all on faith alone, no problems when it comes to taking people's word for it.So you only believe things that you yourself have observed to be true? Quote: Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.I was hoping you’d say this! A majority of people living today believe in some form of deity or deities, so that is by definition the ordinary claim. So actually by claiming there are no God or gods you are making the extraordinary claim, so where is your extraordinary evidence proving no God or gods exist? Put yourself in a sticky wicket with that one :-P Quote:And if this "infallible Triune Scripture" said you won't die if you jump off a cliff? You'll take it's word for it? Your standards are so fucking low, it's pathetic.Scripture doesn’t say that, so your logic is fallacious by using a false analogy. Quote: That's not proof, that's just some bastard writing shit in some book and claiming it was god. Now prove Thor does not exist.I already did. God said he does not exist, therefore he does not exist. Quote: Besides, I had a personal experience of Thor, he took me up and into great Valhalla's Hall. He told me that every other religion is false and that every christian and muslim will perish in hell. Now, disprove it if you can.I already did, God said Thor does not exist, so I know your account is a lie because your depravity makes you a dying liar and God cannot lie. Quote: Why would god have an image? Is there a reason he couldn’t? Quote:And yet he was created by man.Proof? Quote: If that's the case, then he must of watched women raped, children molested, people murdered but did fuck all? Ever heard of the immoral of inaction? It's like I saw a child fall down the well, and though I have the power to pull him out, I don't and I simply walk away as if nothing happened. People world over would hate my guts, so why does god get a free pass? What's his excuse for not acting? Those events all serve a purpose that ends up working out for the good of the believer. Everyone deserves far worse than what they get in life, so to say that God is somehow obligated to give them even better than they deserve is logically fallacious. We should all be thankful that we have a loving and gracious God who gives us all what we do not deserve rather than whining about getting better than we deserve. As an atheist how do you account for this universal and transcendent law of morality that you seem to be appealing to here? Where did it come from? How do we recognize it and know it? Quote: What is the purpose of god? Why does he exist? To love the members of the Godhead and to glorify Himself. RE: Incredulous Logic

It assumes that light travels at a finite speed, oh, wait, nvm, no it doesn't, because it's been observed to travel at a finite speed. Care to grind away at nothing any longer? I do understand that the speed of light poses a terrible threat to your mental health, and so I'll be more sensitive of that going forward.
Good to know that the bible can be translated any old way without becoming a heretic. Guess I'm still in line for sainthood, what with my translation of "Lulz bullshit". The Historian Luke confirms Christ’s existence and miracles.Sorry, even if Luke could prove that Christ existed, which Luke does NOT, it still doesn't offer any legitimate documentation of miracles. It's still always heresay. Quote:Non-sequitur. Youtube.com has nothing to do with the validity of the content of any video. Youtube is merely a host, and if you'll check you dipshit, there are many many religious videos on that site too. Are those illegitimate to you too??? Yes, archeology is fallible, but you'll notice that the man giving the lecture was formerly a devout pentecostal preacher, so clearly he must find something very compelling in his research as a Dr. of Anthropology. You won't even listen to your own god damn people when one of them finally sees the light. Quote:3. The claim that the sky was where God “lived”, that is not supported anywhere in scripture, so it is a false representation of the Biblical God and therefore a straw man.You and I both know that our term 'sky daddy' is meant as an insult and not as a legitimate point of argument. Your god doesn't live anywhere because he does not exist ... much like your common sense.
