Quote:Actually Christ got what he didn’t deserve so you can get better than you actually deserve.
If the bastard got lippy with the Romans, especially by preaching a load of shite, then yeah. He deserved it.
Quote:Any evidence he was a liar? Seems like a pretty bold assertion that would require some evidence.
Any evidence he actually existed? Or better yet, any evidence he was a fucking god?
Quote:So if I am against facts that means that Jesus being some form of magician is a fact. So where is your evidence proving this?
What? There are no facts about jebus, at all! That's the point.
Quote:So you only believe things that you yourself have observed to be true?
No, evidence. Something verifiable. Something that can be tested. I won't take baseless assertions seriously.
Quote:I was hoping you’d say this! A majority of people living today believe in some form of deity or deities, so that is by definition the ordinary claim.
It doesn't matter how many fucking loonies believe in it, it doesn't make it any less extraordinary.
Quote: So actually by claiming there are no God or gods you are making the extraordinary claim, so where is your extraordinary evidence proving no God or gods exist? Put yourself in a sticky wicket with that one :-P
Wrong yet again! I haven't claimed that god doesn't exist, I lack belief in it. I've rejected the claim, the burden of proof is firmly on YOU!
Quote:Scripture doesn’t say that, so your logic is fallacious by using a false analogy.
That's not the blasted point. You're evading the point. If the fucking scripture said you won't die if you jump off a cliff, would you take it's word for it?
Quote:I already did. God said he does not exist, therefore he does not exist.
That's not proof. You haven't proven the existence of god yet! So how can you use god's words if you haven't even provided any evidence for a god yet?
So no, you haven't disproved Thor.
Quote:I already did, God said Thor does not exist, so I know your account is a lie because your depravity makes you a dying liar and God cannot lie.
That's funny, Thor said your god doesn't exist and god cannot lie. Hmmm, quite a problem we have here.
Quote:Is there a reason he couldn’t?
Is there a purpose for it?
Quote:Proof?
I'm still waiting for you for that one. Besides, god behaves very much like a typical human being.
Quote:Those events all serve a purpose that ends up working out for the good of the believer.
That's disgusting. Women raped and children molested and you say god has a purpose for it? What a fucking immoral monster.
Quote: Everyone deserves far worse than what they get in life, so to say that God is somehow obligated to give them even better than they deserve is logically fallacious.
So a women being rapped is deserved? You arsehole. That is just sick.
Quote: We should all be thankful that we have a loving and gracious God who gives us all what we do not deserve rather than whining about getting better than we deserve.
Your god is a fucking monster. Loving my arse. He's guilty of the immoral of inaction. He's also guilty for causing it.
Quote:As an atheist how do you account for this universal and transcendent law of morality that you seem to be appealing to here? Where did it come from? How do we recognize it and know it?
We're social animals, our sense of morality grew over time. No point going over with it with you. For obvious reasons.
Quote:To love the members of the Godhead and to glorify Himself.
Ah, god wants his fucking ego stroked. He's ego is hundreds of times bigger than himself. Self loving prick. I'm surprised he hasn't married himself.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan
Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.
Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.
You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

It is amazing that statler, after all the time he spent here on these forums, really didn't learned anything... Kinda gives you a clue to what he's doing here.
I have heard from him countless attempts to disprove evolution, old earth, etc, but there is always one major thing neglected: Proof for his god, specially the Xtian god.
Coming from a so called 'science teacher" that worked for the US Gvt: yeah, right. I can make love 1000 times uninterrupted, Honest!

God behaves NOTHING like a human being. He is many shades darker red than most serial killers, more deceptive that a professional pool player, and more sadistic than many romans were in the days of the colosseum. Each and every human has a better sence of morality than him, when we include hell.
My conclusion is that there is no reason to believe any of the dogmas of traditional theology and, further, that there is no reason to wish that they were true.
Man, in so far as he is not subject to natural forces, is free to work out his own destiny. The responsibility is his, and so is the opportunity.

I love Tu quoque, we used to take the piss out of how it sounded in my critical thinking lessons.
I guess that's why I'm shit at critical thinking...

You're good enough to avoid swallowing the big crayon all these decades, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. A thought pertaining to "incredulous" logic I just have to share. We could point out the flaws of this or that argument all day long. It passes the day. Personally, I can grant them the entire argument and then stare at them blankly with "And?" painted all over my face. God exists..and?

I know a high school science and maths teacher (who did a undergraduate science degree before doing a postgraduate education one) who is a YEC So I can imagine Statler being in a similar role.

Hmm, I posted a reply to this thread sometime last week and now it is gone...well if I find the time I guess I will have to redo it. I don't teach high school anymore, I now teach for the USDA.
