Atheists same as religious extremists

RE: Atheists same as religious extremists
Stirring up the frodo-ire?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I am 99.999% certain there is no God.
Most christians will claim 100% certainty that God exists.
That's the difference and that's why you witness what you see in any debate, because you can't debate seriously with irrational people high on god.
HuhA man is born to a virgin mother, lives, dies, comes alive again and then disappears into the clouds to become his Dad. How likely is that?

100% certain that the christian god is a fairy tale. Jeff, God of Biscuits, well, the jury is still out.

You disagree?

Tell me fr0d's, how many demoninations of christianity are there alone?

A lot huh?
And that is assuming that all of the people within these denominations all think exactly the same.

Don't let them dodge the first question: What proof do you have for any god or gods?

If you let them skip that step you're already a loser.

It seems to me whenever there are debates online or on t.v, there seems to be a habit amongst fundemental religious preachers, to state everything they as fact. I.e this is the way it is because "god says it is" and there is no room for movement.

However at the same time, there are religious people who do believe there is room for interpretation and use religion in a good way. It is their faith that helps them with their lives.

It seems to me in debates, atheists generally view anyone with religious views with the same contempt irrespective of their interpretation of their particularly religion. There seems to be a very slight mockery at the very least, or out right hatefuleness at the most. It seems sometimes Atheist hold their viewpoint, in the same regard as fundamentalists, in that they are 100% right. Could it be that atheism is wrong and religion is right?

None of us can be 100% certain at all. It may just be that we are all wrong, or partially right. Or both sides are partially right. I believe in evolution and science, but I beleive there is no such thing as fact. I believe what is "fact" is only fact until disproved.

So what im asking is, why is it many atheists hold their view to be fact, when in essence atheism in itself is just anothery theory/viewpoint. It may be infallable just like religion may be. I know I may be generalising, but surely others have noticed this too?

Ohhh shit, the jig is up guys! How did he know that we drove that plane into the Twin Towers?!?

That Post Subject is misleading, don't you think?

Religion is like a Penis, you shouldn't whip it out in public and you shouldn't shove it down your child's throat.

I am 99.9% certain of one thing only; I will die one day. --after all, I MIGHT be the first person to live forever. I certainly deserve it more than anyone else.Angel Cloud

Neither science nor I deal in certainties. A skeptic, for me every question remains open. I don't claim to know ANYTHING with certainty, I merely opine. I also believe the more certain my belief of a thing, the more crucial it is to question it always.

BUT I think the likelihood of there being any kind of God(s) is about the same as aliens landing in the car park at the local mall at 3 pm precisely today.

At the conservative Catholic school I attended, we were taught only a fool NEVER questions his faith. The good sense of that claim has been graphically illustrated by reading some of drivel posted by some of the more dogmatic and less reflective people here.

Usually the person whom the contempt is directed brought that contempt on himself. The large majority of atheists I personally know couldn't give two shits what you believe, and treat me (a deist) with the utmost of respect and kindness. Why?

Because it's not god that is the problem - it's the billions of douche bags that won't leave it the fuck alone. I don't need other people to validate my beliefs and therefore I don't go around to atheists trying to sell them a God I don't even know. I (and most atheists) don't give a shit what people believe. The reason you see contempt for those touting religion is because they're trying to jam it down everybody else's throat.

I'm treated far better by hard core staunch atheists than I've ever been treated by any moderate christian. Contempt is given when contempt is earned.

Indeed. However, it's perhaps wise no to conflate winning a debate or argument with being right (necessarily)

I know a Passionist priest and pretty good theologian, who could probably hand most atheists and every believer here his head.
That doesn't make him right, just clever.

I do not argue with apologists. It's not only like trying to communicate with a pot plant, I really could not give a flying fuck about the personal superstitions of others (although I do quite enjoy ridiculing the willfully ignorant on forums)

IF they get in my face,I have been known to say some exceedingly unkind things. Tiger
