Guilty musical pleasures?

RE: Guilty musical pleasures?
(September 16, 2011 at 5:18 pm)Rev. Rye Wrote: How do the Traveling Wilburys count as a Guilty Pleasure? It's a supergroup starring four rock n roll legends from different decades: Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan, George Harrison, and Tom Petty, and the ELO frontman who could bring them together. I doubt that you'd consider any of the four to be a guilty pleasure, so why consider them together a "guilty pleasure?" Granted, Vol. 3 might not be as good as the first album, but still.

Good question Rev. I suppose I was influenced by a memory of my ex-brother-in-law who was a big Beatles fan, trying to convince my teenage son that the Wilburys were worth a listen. My son was singularly unconvinced ( I think he was into the Beastie Boys at the time ).
After that, I supose I considered them " uncool " " dadrock " , stuff like that. Secretly and guiltily though, I liked them.

Here is a band that is the very definition of "Guilty Pleasure:" Hurra Torpedo.
This band is a power trio that covers songs with kitchen appliances while wearing ill-fitting jogging suits. They come from Norway, where they went on a show that is apparently Norway's equivalent to SNL. They performed this song in 1995, and went on hiatus shortly after. About ten years later somebody uploaded the performance to the internet

They became popular worldwide shortly after the video's rediscovery (for a very limited value of "popular," and then they gained a new lease on life. Here are three other performances of theirs.

RevRye,
For inflicting such a guilty musical pleasure on this thread, of which I am, of course, the supreme ruler, you are sentenced to 14 days solitary, with all of the music on this thread playing non-stop 16 hours each day. Take this wretch down.
