Why is it that signs commanding me to repent sins and the like always cause me to want to indulge in said bad actions?

I mean, if I saw that sign, the first thing that goes through my head is "Throw rocks at it now."

Or, as someone stated, steal it.

I think I'd be more inclined to steal it, then if I get caught, I can just say, "Hey, I'm an atheist indulging in sin. Pray for me," as I saunter away with the sign.

They're not even trying anymore with these notice boards. I saw one last week that read "1 cross + 2 nails = Jesus". Daaang math, logic and reasoning are wasted on these guys.

Atheists don't believe in magic man, therefore we can't possibly repent for transgressions against a being that we don't think even exists.

Now the parish priest on the other hand, who believes in god, has in his mind sinned against the "figment" because he killed a tree to make a meaningless nonsensical statement, he is squandering his god's creation.

I think it was Rasputin who belonged to a terrific Russian sect. They believed that one should go out and REALLY sin,so one had something for which to REALLY repent. Fucking peasants and their pigs,that kind of thing.(I gather the pigs were usually cleaner,better fed and more attractive)

There was another sect which avoided sin by cutting off their own dicks. I never found them an attractive proposition to be honest.

The Catholics and other an other anal retentive neurotics have a great deal for which to answer over their demonising of human sexuality
