If it hadnt been for her belief in the supernatural would she still have killed her little girl?

Perhaps, perhaps not. Might have been the fridge that demanded the blood if she didn't. Psychosis is funny like that. Safe to say that at least in this case, it was a contributing factor, layering a narrative of sacrifice over a mentally unstable woman's view of reality.
