Intelligent, consistent, and otherwise respected people absolutely do entertain the same sorts of fantasies we chide believers for. We all do. This is why having evidence on hand is so crucial, and why appeals to any authority are always under scrutiny. Interesting? You damn right, but not for anything to do with aliens.

They understand it just fine until they're left holding nothing for something that is important to them (for whatever reason).

And? This is exactly what I'm talking about. People, no matter how well educated or well respected, are still subject to reaching conclusions for which they have no evidence. They will argue for their own word when it is not, strictly speaking, their word that is in question.

My wife was reading a book on spirituality written by a nasa scientist.
My wife kinda said 'shes a scientist and she believes' then thrust it under my nose for my opinion.
I read a few pages all, at first it was al about her education and her first few years at nasa........and then she went mad, you could actually tell when, in the biography she was visited by all sorts of spirits that told her all sorts of obvious rubbish, about the spiritual libraries and reincarnation and all the other spritualist crap that infects these people.
Cant remember the name of the book now, but my wife was disappointed that I was less than impressed.

The section of video I cited is not religious - Nasa doing what they do, and former airforce guys talking about an incident whilst they were doing what they normally do. Can Nasa employees go mad? Im sure they can. Can former airforce pilots go mad? Of course. There is nothing in this footage that suggests to me, that this is the case here.

It doesn't matter what my gut feelings are Cox. Gut feelings are just about the worst thing you could possibly use to justify anything. People do not have to "go mad" to have an experience such as this. This is so well understood it's almost impossible for me to decide where to begin. What you have here is evidence of a belief. Is there anything else that you can produce?
