Musicians, what do you play?
|
Lets see... guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, sing, trumpet, tuba, recorder, harmonica, banjo...
Thats just off the top of my head..Ill get back wit ya later with the rest.
I play the piano as my primary instrument. Mozart is my favorite composer and the genre I like to play the most is actually music from films and games. I can play the trumpet a little bit. I played in a big band for roughly two years and when we got a new pianist, I tried out the trumpet and it was fun! I also know the absolute basics in guitar and base. And then I have a couple of tin flutes lying around, I can produce some sound from those too. Oh, and then I sing. Even though I really shouldn't. Poor neighbors..
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura
One wonders what direction this thread will take after everyone has stated their preferred instruments, like will it turn into an AF jamboree, light ourselves a big fire and spark up the moonshine stills, all the men all either whittlin wood or sticking their thumbs behind their britches straps, and telling each other to kiss our grits while watching the female members square dance to frodo playing the tune from deliverance...? actually on second thoughts, maybe not
"When did I realize I was God? Well, I was praying and I suddenly realized I was talking to myself." Peter O'Toole.
I love musicians - amateur, pro ... it doesn't matter. Musicians tend to have similar styles of ideologies that I am a pre-disposed to.
The next question should be. How many of the AF musicians regularly get paid to perform?? Curious. RE: Musicians, what do you play?

Never. I've had crazy nazi piano teachers, who made sure that every time I need to perform, I should take some beta blockers. After smashing the idea into my head that I have to start from the top, if I make the slightest mistake, I've lost all interest for performing. But give me a couple of ciders and I play better than I do without, even with an audience
And anyhow, I'm not good enough to dare to ask for payment, if someone asks me to perform.. When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Yeah, live music has been my second job for approaching 8 years now. Mostly as one half of a duet (http://www.mardaronthedancefloor.co.uk), sometimes on my own (http://www.facebook.com/pages/Martin-Pot...3354364072) and at the moment I'm filling in as part of a four piece band for a few months while one of the guys is away. So yeah, I play usually three or four times a month. I have a gig this Saturday and a wedding next Saturday.

Not with that attitude. Tell them you want £150 a time.
