For some reason my mind took it like "if I were visiting several areas in Europe"...maybe because of Cin.

Tracing back family history is quite an eye opener I find. We do get a good few Americans coming over to do just that. If I traced my family ancestors, I'd end up in North Germany. I'm of Saxon blood. My farther's side is Saxon which goes back to Germany. My ancestors were mainly woodsmen/lumberjacks.

Technically that side was also Eastern European, so I don't know what made them settle in England or for how long...more on that later. I know Pad is interested in migratory stories.

I have some detail knowledge of how my ancestors came to Britain.
When the Romans pulled out of Britain, since the Roman empire was on it's way out. The island was left largely undefended. So the Saxons invaded from the north from Scandinavia. Long way really, from north Germany, to Scandinavia and then to Britain. Settled here for a good few hundred years. Go back a thousand years or two and I'll be in north Germany. Mothers blood is Norman, which Normans came over during the Norman invasion. 1066.
