Christians don't believe that women are less equal than men.

"Let the women learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression." (I Timothy 2:11-14)

All subjection.
Usurp authority.

Need I say more?

God did establish men to have the role of authority in the family and the church, but never declared women to be inferior. Jesus stated that the Father was greater than he, but he was referring to the Father's position in carrying out his will. Jesus also stated that he and the Father were one. Everything that was the Father's was his. Paul stated that the totality of the Father was embodied in Jesus. Christianity's treatment of woman was much better than the prevailing cultures of the time.

I think the sea is beautiful but I start to feel terrified if I can't see land. I googled your captain, and I don't really understand what all the fuss is about. It can't be an actual law that a captain must go down with his ship? That's ridiculous.

Correct. That is why no such law exists. Captain Coward was dubbed that because he is not seen as doing his duty and leaving his posts and charges in jeopardy.

But as I said, this is not about you. Perhaps if you consider that your daughter may need someone to do their duty to her.

I've also seen some children prefer to go to Dad instead of Mom in some instances when they were upset or scared.

I've seen many of my own family members being AMAZING fathers...one a better and more nurturing parent than his child's mother to boot.

Character, not gender, makes a nurturing parent.

Try opening up a day care facility with all male employees, or maybe just one or two male employees, and see how much business you get. Looking at a more real situation: in divorce custody disputes, why do the mothers almost always get custody of the children?

Legal prejudices of this kind are unfair, and atrocious. It has no bearing on the value of men as child rearers. And there are efforts out there to change custody laws to be more fair to men.

Perhaps I plan to raise my daughters and my son to be responsible for themselves.

Must you be this literal whenever it suits you? Words mean nothing; if you set up a series of rules that force an entire class of people to be submissive to another, that precludes them from certain roles, sight unseen, then you are treating that class of people as inferior. Who cares if you don't outright declare it? If the real world ran on declarations then propaganda heavy dictatorships would be the happiest, most prosperous places on earth!

North Korean scientists have found that North Korea is the second happiest country in the world. The first is China.

I understand your feelings, which come from a worldview different than mine or that of other believing christians. If you choose to be a christian, this is something you must accept, but I see no reason to campaign to change christianity. Not all women agree with your opinion and are happy with their church and family situations. I say let women make their own choices. That's really true freedom. If they don't agree with the teachings of christianity, they can choose a different path.

"Let women make their own choices...as long as they fit what has already been chosen for them". And your idea of "if they don't like it they can leave", sorry, many people are brought up from birth with these ideas being constantly reinforced by both their society and closest family members. It's not something you can wave your hand dismissively at and say they can just leave.
