I like this place! It's exciting!

You haven't the ability to understand a Christian debate, put away the popcorn and do something constructive.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

It's cute seeing GC attempting to order people around, as though they have clout here.

I agree. I fail to see the difference between your version of nonsense and his, but I doubt there is anything to understand.

It is amusing, though Popcorn

Godschild, what I'm saying is you need to be careful of your wording. You state you are 100% certain of knowing something that is not empirically verifiable. I think it safer to say you are 100% CONFIDENT in his existence, but that is different than KNOWING. I too am confident that the God of the Bible is real and have seen the evidence in history, morality, the universe and in my life and in others in order to be persuaded enough to have faith in Him. But I cannot make that statement that I KNOW, because to know something requires "special knowledge". Knowledge comes from the greek "gnosis" meaning experiential knowledge or applied knowledge in personal experiences. In modern times, "knowledge" needs to be testable, empirically verifiable. Personal knowledge is not verifiable, so when you say you "know" something with 100% certainty, people will want proof. But you cannot prove to others using personal experiences as evidence.

What will you do when you die and find yourself before another god and not the God of creation, with the way you think it's a possibility and that possibility could lead to many horrors. So how do you know you'll come before the God of creation instead of another god that will use you as a toy.

GC

So how many gods exist in your world exactly GC?

This coming from a guy who hasn't posted one articulate thought in all his time here. Judging from GC's contributions to various debates -- a steady stream of "I'm right; you're wrong. You'll be sorry when you're dead." -- I'm sure the intra-Christian squabbles he participates in don't rise much above that level. As always, great witness, Cletus. Twenty-odd centuries of a once proud Christian intellectual tradition dead-ending in the likes of you. Pathetic. Funny, but pathetic.

Keep your popcorn, Neimenovic. It tastes even better during comedies.

And yes, I did believe as you do. In fact, I probably believed even more strongly than you. Being a natural empath, my emotions are powerful and I feel them deeply, which is probably why it took so long for my logic to unseat my faith. If I hadn't believed as strongly as I had, I certainly would have de-converted sooner, and I wouldn't have been so deep into ministry and prayer rituals. I even kicked a "ghost" out of someone's house one time, and did a good enough job that it fooled everyone involved (myself included).

I know full well the kind of mental gymnastics it takes for an otherwise sound, intelligent mind to protect its faith in non-evident phenomena. Your insistence that you know what I do or don't believe is only more evidence that you are a pretentious, presumptuous, self-righteous shitbag.

Now who's putting words in someone else mouth. I know God is real, that He exists, so you couldn't have known what I know or you couldn't ever be an atheist. You could say you've walked away from God, but you couldn't say He's not real. Can't help you have mental issues about ghosts, you might want to get that checked out. I'm none of the above, I love God and know that He will always be with me, and again your death will tell you everything about God, unless you reconsider you present belief.

Gc

You're telling someone that he had mental issues, because he believed in ghosts? Don't you believe in a ghost inside of you that gets teleported to this transcendent paradise or torture chamber when you die? If you believe in all of that bible bullshit, why would it sound so farfetched to you, to believe that a soul could roam this earth, if he didn't accept god in a way that you do? You think that is deserving of calling someone mentally ill? Meanwhile, you believe know that you have conversations with an invisible being, and no one can hear these voices while around you, except for you (because they're voices in your head), but that's perfectly ok, according to you. So, if a child is talking out loud to an invisible someone, it's not a ghost, it's an imaginary friend, but when you talk to some invisible being in your head, it's perfectly rational because it's based on a character in a book written by morons a few thousand years ago? That's sane to you? You might want to get that checked out. While you're at it, maybe listen to your pal, lkingpinl, he has more common sense than you do. It's a belief system. Prove these voices in your head are real, or seek medical help.

GC

I have more evidence of my parents existence, and have a personal relationship with them. I still don't claim to know 100% they exist.

You and I can't rule out, amongst others:
We are just a brain in a vat/the Matrix etc
Your/my brain is faulty and/or these are false sensations/memories

You may claim to have 100% certainty, but this is a mistake you are making as you cannot know for certain anything at all.

ROFLOL

And something to wash it down with  Cheers!

Dude, I was a Christian for nearly 30 years. A smart one. If I really wanted to scare everyone, I could turn coat right now and argue from virtually any slant of Christian apologetics you could name (from Catholic to Calvinist all the way out to heretical shit like Mormonism). I used to use (alleged) Quantum mechanics in conjunction with scripture to validate my belief in the inerrancy of scripture. You have no idea what you're talking about.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)
