HM, I like the way you think! very healthy!
I, myself are sticking around on the off chance that I am out in the deep ocean in my little boat and come across another titanic situation where I'm forced to take on 5 ladies who have been struggling in the icy cold waters and the only way I can keep them alive is to share my body temperature with all 5 of them! I would feel really bad if I lost one!
I'd selectively pick up the hot chicky babes only, no grannies sorry!
No God, No fear.

You can't change the world but you can change your world. That's the most anybody can be expected to do and if everybody did that, the whole world would be a better place.
Forget about the state of the world. That's just a reason that you are using to justify being depressed. The real reason is something else. Either you're not eating properly, or you've fallen into a cycle of dwelling on negative things which makes you depressed which makes you dwell on the negative in life. Or you're just unfilled or there is something else that is really bothering you. Focus on the core reason for being depressed and work on that.
Depression is like being at the bottom of a muddy pit with the slopes being really slippery. You need to work really hard to climb your way out of it and it's very easy, seductive even, to just give up half way up and slide down again. But then you just find yourself at the bottom having to do it all over again. At that point you must be honest with yourself. Are you really prepared to commit suicide? If not then you can either spend the rest of your life at the bottom of your pit or you can make the effort to climb out and never let yourself slide back down again.
I chose the latter because I could not do the former no matter how much I longed for it.

Permanent solution to a temporary problem (your thought process, not the issues you described). I think there is something more going on here than global warming and disasters in the media. Seek professional help.

I have noticed that when my son gets depressed, he sees life through a dark cloud that doesn't always line up with reality. For example, he once had suicidal thoughts because he said he had no friends but when he was home, those same nonexistent friends called him to check on him or just say hi. So, yes, he had friends but for some reason, he couldn't see them.
The same thing is probably happening to you. You are viewing life through a negative filter and aren't able to see the good. Talk to someone. There is nothing wrong with going to a therapist.
As far as climate change goes, does it really make sense for the individuals who care about it to kill themselves so that all that is left are the people who don't give a damn?
Depression runs in my family. Does it in yours? Sometimes there is something off with the wiring of some people's brains that make them more likely to view the world more negatively. My son and oldest daughter have the same problem and they need medication to help them. Talk to a doctor. You may or may not need medication but if you do, there is nothing to be ashamed of in taking it.

We're all going to die. 100% chance. So we have a built-in disaster!
I, for one, will enjoy a few more flowers, a few more sunsets, and a few more cups of hot chocolate before all that, though. Absurdity, I bite my thumb at you!

Shinigami, the god of death, trying to commit suicide...oh the irony
I am eagerly waiting for the climate change to happen, and then the zombie apocalypse, and you wanna miss out on all the fun? C'mon, at least wait till the aliens get here...
What's the point of life if you do not witness the beauty of the ultimate destruction, which somehow always misses the deadline though
Explain to me what is so damn depressing with a little climate change? huh? Well it might be depressing that it is so damn slow that it's happening for centuries now and still happening, but there's still time.., over the next few centuries, it might finally cross that tipping point, though by then we would already have become cyborgs and thus not susceptible to it anymore, sigh! Yeh, I see why you are depressed.

Does anyone know if this person is ok? Should we have some kind of system for reporting or hotlining this when it happens? I realize everyone is anonymous here on the forums, but I kind of wish we could do more for this person than try to be encouraging.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

Wikipedia Wrote:Reaction with the hydroxyl radical- The major removal mechanism of methane from the atmosphere involves radical chemistry; it reacts with the hydroxyl radical (·OH) in the troposphere or stratosphere to create the CH·3 radical and water vapor. In addition to being the largest known sink for atmospheric methane, this reaction is one of the most important sources of water vapor in the upper atmosphere.
