"for the preaching of Christ crucified . . . is foolishness"

RE: "for the preaching of Christ crucified . . . is foolishness"
Yeah i agree OP it just opens a fucking can of worms that doesn't even need to be opened. Because some jerk off died for your sins you just up and be a hypocrite and do stuff and sin and then push off all the blame onto a person that died and still get into said heaven. It doesn't make fucking sense. So you can fucking sin and then get forgiven while there is legitimately good people who have done nothing wrong end up in hell yeah <_<... sacrifice my ass....

I was taught to question so that I could find the truth, it's not necessary to question everything, but it is necessary to question things that do not seem right or one doesn't understand. That is if one wants to learn, which I have always wanted to do.

Well when I did it, i lost my faith. You still cling to the belief that Yahweh can do whatever he wants just because.

It's interesting how they already suspected what they were writing was going to sound like horseshit before they even finished it.

He can do anything that can also be explained by other means, and nothing that can't. He'll throw you in hell for not believing in him, but demands faith instead of evidence.

Yeah, got to love when Jesus admits this sacrifice idea isn't really going to work, but that's what they're going for anyway. Narrow road to heaven, and all that. Most of Humanity is going to burn, but he can't or won't come up with a better idea.

I'm coming around to the view that most/all religions 'evolved' similarly to how we've seen Mormonism change.  The significant part of the Mormon experience is they have not thought through anything, documented copiously all their prevarication and connivance, and publicly maintain they are still The True Faith despite knowledge at the upper levels of the bureaucracy of copious multiples of the minimum required facts for ANYONE to conclude their religion is false, and not just false, but ludicrously false, and totally unrecognizable to their founder and his early followers, who, if they were around today would all be excommunicated for their unevolved version of Mormonism.

Mormonism is a petri dish model of how most/all religions hatched and grew.  That they published all their intermediate stages of changes of doctrine is profoundly astonishing as it shows everyone 'how the sausage is made'.  Even today, church officials publicly assert they've had the same doctrines, strictures, dogma, rules and covenants since their beginning despite the churches own habit of releasing and/or publishing all the relevant materials that prove otherwise.

Mormonism is a contemporary model of how religions gestate and mutate.  The crucial difference is their recent origin and a very early 'revelation' that they be a record keeping people.  The passing decades have shown how specifically stupid that little missive from 'God' was as the Mormons themselves have hoisted themselves upon their own petard, and also illustrated clearly how other religions came down to us too.

LOL, not only does Mormonism falsify itself, it shows us how other religions that we lack the appropriate paper trail for changed, grew, mutated, schismed, apostatized, reinvented and ultimately falsified themselves too.

Because He is the creator, He can't do things that are against who He is that would be sin and God can't sin.

Vorlon: I see what you mean Smile Religions do tend to resemble Windows after endless patches desperately trying to hold together stuff that never worked properly to begin with.

I was stunned at how ridiculous Mormonism is when I heard about it, but really once you're past a certain point, the details don't matter. In fact, I think religions are required to be past that crazy post. Anything less and people get bored, or can actually understand it and analyse it, which is no good.
