RE: Test my belief system
Sappho: I suppose the simple answer is that I have a great deal of empathy, and the thought of others suffering makes me sad. If I deliberately hurt anyone, I would feel a huge sense of guilt. My body "knows" it is wrong, and it lets me know in no uncertain terms. Helping people on the other hand makes me feel happy, as I feel their happiness Smile That's a kind of evolutionary explanation. Anything else I say will probably ultimately be a rationalization. But after all my life experiences, I feel that everything is better for everyone if we look after each other. This applies doubly to (non-human) animals because they are so vulnerable and rely on us for their wellbeing. I value everyone's life, I consider them the most precious commodity. The happier they can be, the better those lives will be. I find this fundamentally more important than anything else, it's the foundation.

It's important to note that I do have to look after myself, too. I don't extend making people happy to allowing them to hurt me.

Brian: That was very "Christian" yeah Big Grin Sorry, no Jesus for me so I guess he'll be roasting my nuts with his love.

Bahaha roasting your nuts. That's rich. Sorry I just had to channel my local flavor of Jesus freak.

That's OK, bring it on Big Grin

I'm more than a match for Jesus. I have proved that in the ring time and again in our weekly kickboxing matches. Now he doesn't even bother showing up. Another win for me!

That's indeed a simple and very good answer. If it brings you happiness then it's the thing you must do, because without it, why still live?

For me the world and life does not make any sense, and that's fine. I just do whatever I like with regretting as less a possible. Not that I don't take actions so I won't regret, but before I take them I promise myself to not regret them afterwards. There is no point in that. I haven't found a purpose in life yet, maybe I never will, but I stay alive for experience, until I become utterly bored of it, although I doubt I ever will.

I'm sorry if I just bored you with this :p
Maybe I write too much sorry sometimes.

Thank you, not boring at all! I find these kind of things very interesting.

There's nothing wrong with doing what you like, as long as you're not hurting anyone (in my opinion). I hope I haven't presented myself who does nothing but help others all the time. I wish I could be that unselfish. To keep myself sane, and to simply enjoy life, I do all kinds of stuff just for the sake of it Smile

I do hurt people sometimes on purpose, which I can perfectly live with (and I hope you too). Pain and unhappiness is part of life and more specific of experience. You learn from it, it changes you, it makes you live. A world without pain only exists in religion and is not a thing to strive to (for?). Happiness can only exist together with pain. No pain no gain. The more a person suffers, the more he will be happy with small things. The less he suffers, the larger must things be so he can get happiness from it. So when I hurt someone, I don't feel any regret. I'm just offering him a life.

sorry for the late respons, but i'm not very active on here.

When I would (would :'( ) have a girlfriend but it wouldn't go so well, and I'd be wondering if I should continue the difficult which will probably lead to nothing or just dump her, I'd just most likely choose the second case.

When I'd find a wallet on the street, I'd take the money for myself and bring the rest to the police.

When there is only one cookie left I will grab it quickly and devour it with taste in front of my friend.

I live in a country in Europe that has to take extra refugees of which you probably heared already, and I'd rather send them back after a while and not integrate them.

RE: Test my belief system
No worries Smile I always check my own topics so there's no rush.

Sure, I see. I understand where you're coming from. I wouldn't call those things trying to cause harm for no reason, such as punching me in the arm because you feel like it. They are responses to situations which will differ greatly from person to person. I don't think your responses are bad, just more geared towards yourself. That's a sliding scale that we all have, and there's no right answer.

I'm not sure I'd agree that you're actually offering people a life by doing them Smile You're giving them a kind of experience, sure.
