We are all human.

That is how humans feed their infants.

If anything, it should be respected and protected.

Nobody else hesitates to eat in public,
and some adults eat in a far more off-putting manner that a nursing infant does.

Let the kid eat.

Humans feed their infants with a bottle, as the good lord intended. You use a pump to fill the bottle in a room behind 4 locked door, in the dark. Then when you're done, you clean yourself up and ask god for forgiveness for touching your own body. Then you tell everyone you're feeding the baby cow's milk, like you buy at the store in jugs.

I'm not sure why it bothered me back then. It doesn't really now. I guess because I was unfamiliar with it. It seemed odd. Like if someone suddenly dropped their pants in front of everyone. I don't have a good explanation, except that I considered them privates, and you shouldn't show privates in public.

Purely aesthetic reasons why I have a problem with it under certain circumstances. I don't like to be treated to bodily functions in restaurants. But I have the same problem with kissing. It simply disgusts me when I'm eating.

So, purely aesthetic. Keep it away from my dinner and we won't have a problem.

appears absurd to me. In particularly the US, but also some people around here, have a hopelessly unhealthy relationship to the human body. I blame the puritans.
It's a damn baby eating, if you are overcome by disgust, or unclean thoughts, or disgust at your unclean thoughts, at the sight of babies drinking, that really is your problem.

Why particularly the US? Or local version of christianity is based on puritanism. You can show a child a scene of violence on TV, but a passionate kiss will jack up the rating.

Oh... feeding a kid when he's hungry and you're both outside... what can go wrong?
Is the boob showing? for a tiny fraction of a second, yeah... then it gets a hungry mouth covering it.
Women are usually a bit coy and lift their shirts so as to cover the area above the breasts... and the baby covers the area below. Usually, you can only see a bit of the mammary gland's outer skin covering..... but how is that different from seeing some nice cleavage? Beats me.

Oh, and there are such things as "breastfeeding bras" out there.

My reaction to anyone objecting to breast feeding; grow the fuck up.

oh my God! a pair of boobs! how shocking! Like most women and quite a lot of men don't have pair, it's just boobs...

And if it was a glamour model with her tits out for your titillation on page 3, you wouldn't be complaining. I think some people have this idea that the only purpose of boobs is for sexual arousal. Breasts are essential for the survival of infants among mammals, and breast feeding still has great health benefits for human children today.
