It's really quite simple. A Fox News fact checker, working for ISIS by posing as a Muslim adolescent, made a clock to throw liberals off the trail of the really dangerous clock makers.  In other words, keep a close eye on the Swiss.  Their "neutrality" is a ruse.

Those of us who were a little geeky still have memories of dumb teachers doing dumb things to us because they didn't understand the geeky kinds of things we did. I got in trouble for writing a computer game for a DECwriter in 1980. Why? Because it was too violent. Who cares that I was learning to code all on my own. So naturally we all want to project our experiences of being mistreated onto this kid. I had the same response: dumb school officials over-reacting. But there's more to this story.

He disassembled the clock.
He rearranged the parts into a pencil box to make it look like a bomb.
He lied to a teacher by saying he made it.
The teacher told him to put it away.
He kept showing it around.
He had it on and set to sound the alarm while in school.
He was passive-aggressive to the school authorities and police.
His father jumps to the microphone with CAIR to cry racism.

Sorry, if I'm a little bit skeptical. There's a right way to do things and a wrong way. My folks would have told me that they didn't care if the teacher was over-reacting or not. The fact remains, it was a stupid thing to do. And its even more stupid in a post 9/11 Columbine world. He may be smart but he's still an idiot.

Just because he didn't make the clock from scratch doesn't mean he didn't make a clock. Pulling things apart and reassembling them again is what most nerds do when they are young.

Also, I don't see how you can claim he made it look like a bomb, when it doesn't look like a bomb. Where's the explosive? Why does a bomb need A/C power? When asked by the police he said repeatedly that it was a clock (which it was).

Plus, not doing what a teacher tells you is not a crime.

It seems the only thing Ahmed did wrong was to have it go off in class, but then again, maybe he didn't even know the alarm was set. Who knows?

None of this should have resulted in his arrest.

Because we let them, Chad. I grew up in the 70ies, when terrorism was omnipresent in Europe. Mostly letwing terrorism, but none of this led to the Orwellian society we now have to deal with.

This whole saga is the result of overreaching "zero tolerance" policies. Since when did zero tolerance mean all context is thrown out the window.

Bringing an actual gun to school is something that should actually be punished. Pointing your fingers in the shape of a gun, or biting a pop tart into the shape of a gun, of bringing a clock into school should not be.

I have seen that picture quite a few times, and tried to find the actual source. Not even Fox News talked about it, which tells me that they have some amount of fact checking(SURPRISE; MOTHAFUCKA), and they thought it was invalid.

All I am saying is that no real news source is arguing with that as a topic.

All I am saying is prove that is his clock, and not something some douche made to look like it could be his clock.

I had the opportunity tonight to show a picture of the 'clock' to a couple of teachers and merely stated: You are in class. You hear beeping in a 14 year old students backpack. When you ask to see inside the backpack he shows you this (picture of clock) and tells you it is a clock he built. What do you do?

I said nothing about the kids race or the location of the school.

They all had the same reaction. Make sure the other children are supervised. Escort the 14 year old with his device to the office and call the police. They all said the first responsibility of a teacher is to keep the children safe. Period. There is no such thing as over-reacting to a possible danger.

Sorry guys. Nothing to do with racism. Nothing at all.
