Why do I get the sense that you aren't being entirely sincere? I mean having access to Gods thoughts, thoughts of the creator of the universe? You could demonstrate an intellect beyond anything I've ever experienced. Give me proof beyond dispute, tell me of technologies no man has yet conceived of. Even tell me the workings of the universe itself.
Yet you are displaying none of these things. Are you being modest?

i dont have access to Gods mind He has access to mine if God shares a tiny bit of insight with me its not because i have some kind of key to Gods mind and am unlocking it whenever i want . neither is God a genie in a bottle that grants our every wish .
Right but he grants you "key insight". Presumably insight that would be unique to him and could not come from a human?
I mean, why bother getting intouch otherwise? It would be like the CEO delivering a companies mail.
Well? What was the insight?

You can hardly complain I'm not open to the idea of God then, if you don't even know what it is! Smile

I'm open to anything, that has evidence supporting it.

I highly suspect no theist actually knows what it is. No one can define it in any meaningful way.

I dont need to understand everything to believe i accept my limitations as a human and im just content with some knowledge that is beyond my own limited mind and am happy with that . i cannot provide any evidence only God can provide that evidence for you i dont think you would even be convinced by a scientist honestly if you reject the idea completely that God exists . im not a scientist so i dont know what scientific technology exists maybe someday it will advance to the point where the mind can be mapped and studies by a machine and incoming thoughts can be identified but again results will be contested by those who do not believe and refuse the idea .

Science has been able to map thoughts for a while.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/4472355.stm

Quote:Scientists say they can read a person's unconscious thoughts using a simple brain scan.
Functional MRI scans plot brain activity by looking at brain blood flow and are already used by researchers.
A team at University College London found with fMRI they could tell what a person was thinking deep down even when the individual was unaware themselves.

Quote:Similarly, a separate study by Japanese researchers, published in the same journal, found that when people were shown stripes tilted in different directions, there were subtle differences in the pattern of brain activity obtained by fMRI.

The scientists built a computer program to recognise these different patterns and found they could predict what direction stripes had been shown with remarkable accuracy.

Then what good is such a god?

And how can you be sure it's God and not Satan, Easter Bunny, a telepathic alien from planet XZ-8768758, your neighbor's CB-radio, or a symptom of a mental illness?

how is new knowledge not good ?

i never said i understood everything i just said that i knew it was not from me.

im not the only person who believes in God and rejects religions . our religion would be very very simple and just involve loving people and listening to God and not making bowls.

That doesn't make sense. Billions of religious people - who believed in gods and never claimed to have been personally contacted by their deities - died religious. They did not become atheists.

many many atheists were once religious people and i believe that will contine why dont you think the trend will continue as it has ?

yes thats right ..... why dont you share with me your childhood experiences and your intimate relationships and your personal feelings ? i knew you for about 2 minutes before i shared what i did im sure God will want me to share more at the perfect time - regardless and despite my own personal hesitation about it which is exactly what happened yesterday , im in no rush .

I just got an email from science:

"We will be happy to study this 'god' of which you speak, as soon as you can tell us what it is, what you propose that it does, and what evidence there is that such a thing exists at all. Until then, I'm a very busy field of study so stop sending me these messages. Go bother theology."

which is why you cant look to science for wisdom its so limited unless your content with the limitations of science

Science is actually much less limited than religion is. Science can use a large number of processes and tools to demonstrate that its findings are correct, and the findings of science have granted us boons that religion has always promised and yet failed to deliver. Religion, on the other hand, is limited to rhetorical hoop-jumping and dishonesty, misrepresentation of evidence, fabrication of evidence, and ignorance of evidence in order to convince anyone of its tenets.

Yes, science does impose limitations in some regards, but those are primarily designed with the aim of parsing out real things from made-up bullshit. Religion, however, is limited to a presupposed narrative that it must assume to be true at all costs. Any way you slice it, religion is vastly more limited in scope and method than science is.

The most damning thing is that science has pretty well explained religion/god itself (why it exists, what makes it work, etc.) in naturalistic and easily demonstrated terms, and yet believers have been unable to put forward or prove a better explanation, instead clinging to the presupposition that Gaud did it. Religion is also limited by the edge of science, since god by nature must crouch in the corners of scientific ignorance, shrinking a little more every time we learn something new.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

Please do not make the mistake of thinking that we rely on science for everything in our lives. But when people make existential claims for the existence of a god, such as you do, science sure comes in handy for determining whether the claim has any validity or not.

There are plenty of sources for wisdom that don't rely on being gullible, and believing in things for which the only evidence you seem to be able to present is 'feelings'.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
