That's not based on the reviews that came out at the time of release though. If you look at only the reviews that came out at the time of release they were more positive.
Oh and I have a question about Han - slight spoiler:

I dunno. For episode I, looks like all but one of the 36 reviews the 51/100 was based on were published at the time of release. Granted, that one was a 0, so maybe bump it up to 55/100. But I just don't think it's accurate that Ep I got mostly good reviews. It got some, and many middling ones. I remember extreme disagreement in the fanbase about whether it was worth seeing and whining about how Lucas was whoring himself out and whatnot. The reaction to this one has been a lot more positive, critically.

Don't worry, my friend. If this be the end, then so shall it be.

Right. What's your point.

Did you not see this link I posted? http://www.rogerebert.com/reviews/star-w...enace-1999
It got 3.5/4 in that review, Episode III got the same, and Episode II got 2/4 on that review site. Reviews were mostly positive for Episode I when it came out, and mostly positive for the next too as well.
TFA may be getting great reviews now, and yes it's a style of action that I personally don't like, but the style put aside, the film has absolutely no depth. Everything promised in the trailers turned out to be false - grand armies, Rey exploring the depths of an abandoned spaceship (I thought that was going to play out more like Alien, but no it served no purpose at all and we never got to see it - what was in the trailer was basically all there was). CGI completely overused. Like I said before Lucas had only a handful of CGI characters in the prequels, and you can count them on one hand. Watto, Jar Jar, Yoda, General Grievous. That's basically it. There are others that appear only once, but those are the main supporting characters that are CGI in the prequels. And they were spread out - Jar Jar barely appears in II and III, Watto barely appears after Episode I, General Grievous only appears in III.
Why isn't Chewy's hair grey? What are they afraid to age a Wookie or something?
The Force Awakens CGI characters: Maz Kanata, Snoke, Unkar Plutt. Literally every alien species the characters interacted with, other than Chewy, was CGI. Ah you might say - wrong... Plutt was played by Simon Pegg in a suit. And you'd be right, aside from the fact that I've seen the movie and I know they replaced his head with CGI. Even Lucas wouldn't have gone that far with CGI - at least he never did before. All his characters were either physical or CGI, he didn't use CGI heads on physical suits.

Oh and another example of JJ just blatantly giving the finger to the prequels is where it's revealed that the Stormtroopers in his movie are african-american slaves rather than clones of Jango Fett (or clones of someone else). Like I said he went out of his way not to use anything from the prequels (except to make Kylo Ren remind us of that relentless whining that Anakin does), and rehashes absolutely everything he can from the original trilogy.

That is exactly what I was hoping for, at least in a small way. Viewing the trailers, I thought that was the most striking scene in all of them, and that the idea of her exploring this dead behemoth could be very powerful, could generate fantastic atmosphere, pictures and a sense of danger, awe, whatever you want to do with it.
Very disappointing.
