I'm sorry but what a ridiculous fucking outlook this is.

If I had a relative or friend who was severely overweight and continued to stuff their face to the point of obesity and health complications, I'd see it as my duty not only as a friend or relative, but a fellow human being, to at the very least say something.

In your world nobody would say anything to anyone else for fear of offending them.

You call it judging. I call it caring.

You can actually approach the matter with tact you know. Just because you can recognise someone is at an unideal weight does not automatically make you a judgemental sack of shit, like you seem to think.

I'm probably at my heaviest I've ever been. I've had a couple of my friends mention losing weight. I don't automatically take that as though they're judging me. I'd be a dick if I did that.
Do you really think you can "care" someone into being a different weight or into adopting a healthy lifestyle as you see fit? Fat people know they are fat. It's not your job to inform them about how you think they should live their lives. You are delusional and have an inflated sense of self-importance if you think your unsolicited advice is necessary or appropriate.

People don't spend their lives justifying being fat. There are some things that you can't change. YES you can change your lifestyle and all that shit, but there's a reason more than 90% of people revert back to being fat after losing weight. Reminding people that they are fat only makes you look like a dick and can hurt people down to their very core.

Also, do not speak for me and what things in "my world" are like with regard to offending people. You don't know a fucking thing about me.

Unsolicited advice rarely goes over well with the advisee. It's your life though, so rock on.

You're being totally irrational about this and making claims you can't back up with anything, not to mention they are incredibly unreasonable. Of course it helps to criticise someone for their flaws, you dummy. I can't put it any simpler than that. You would agree with me if we were talking about anything else, but as it is, you're arguing on principle.

Yes, because until you came along and told them, fat people had no idea they were fat, and absolutely no clue that it had any connection to food intake. You're doing them a great service!

Do you think the same of smokers?

Quote:Fat people know they are fat.

Smokers know they smoke. What's your point?

Quote:It's not your job to inform them about how you think they should live their lives.

Didn't say it fucking was.

Quote:You are delusional and have an inflated sense of self-importance if you think your unsolicited advice is necessary or appropriate.

If I was going around to every tom dick and harry I saw who was fat, you might have a point.

As it is, we're talking about people we supposedly care about. If I wanted to help someone by suggesting they try losing weight, and give them the avenues to do it, that's not delusional or having an inflated sense of self-importance.

Fuck me, I can't imagine you have any friends if this is how you'd actually treat them if they were to give you advice. You're talking as though I'm suggesting we go after everyone we know is fat and call them out on it. You're the idiot who's delusional.

Quote:People don't spend their lives justifying being fat.

Are you seriously telling me there aren't people out there who justify their obesity?

And you call me delusonal.

Quote:There are some things that you can't change.

No fucking shit. However you would rather people just mindlessly accept seeing others in poor health. What a beacon of morality you are.

Quote: YES you can change your lifestyle and all that shit, but there's a reason more than 90% of people revert back to being fat after losing weight.

Again, no shit. This is not an excuse to say nothing at all.

Quote:Reminding people that they are fat only makes you look like a dick and can hurt people down to their very core.

Looking like a dick depends entirely on how you'd go about it. You seem to think that no matter what you might say it's always going to be detrimental. Again, you do understand what the word tact means right? What is the reason for it not applying here?

And boo fucking hoo about them being hurt. It's this kind of sissy don't offend me mentality that leads to so many people being content with being overweight. If the intention is to hurt their feelings then sure, that's called being an asshole. That applies in any scenario not just with people who are overweight. However helping someone recognise that they are not in a good frame of health is not entirely negative like you delusionally think. Your attitude is counter-productive. Not everyone sits there one day and realises they're fat and decides to do something off of their own back. I'd say the majority do something about their weight directly because people around them help them to.

Quote:Also, do not speak for me and what things in "my world" are like with regard to offending people. You don't know a fucking thing about me.

Jimmies rustled.

I can speak for what you've been harping on about in this thread. And my opinion is you've been talking pure smack. You would rather have people say nothing at all for fear of offending or hurting someone's feelings. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Quote:Unsolicited advice rarely goes over well with the advisee. It's your life though, so rock on.

Again, framing it as though everyone's intention is to go out fatty hunting.

You rock on with your PC pussy foot agenda love.

Fuck me, the idiocy in this thread. Nobody here has said a damn thing like this. Fuck off with your stupid straw man bullshit.

Yes. Smokers know smoking is bad for you.

You are absolutely saying it's your job to inform people about their bad choices. If you aren't as you so angrily claim here, what the hell ARE you saying?

Fuck me, the idiocy in this thread. Nobody here has said a damn thing like this. Fuck off with your stupid straw man bullshit.

Please, you're advocating, essentially, for going up to someone and saying, "Um, pardon me, but I couldn't help but notice you're a, well, um, a tad bit overweight. I just wanted to let you know that there is an increased level of morbidity associated with being overweight, brought on by higher rates of heart disease, hypertension, and diabetes. I'm told you can address obesity as a risk factor by eating less."

Now, you didn't say this explicitly here in this thread, but this is goddamned well what your position entails. Quit being dishonest about this, and own the logical implications of your position. You are advocating for acting as if they don't know that they're fat, and don't know that that carries health risks, and that they need you, gallant Sir Galahad, to save them from themselves.

If you can't see that that is the logical implication of your position, you really ought to lay off calling others "idiots".

So far, all i can see is Nap trying to say that trying to help people you care about being healthy is okay, which it totally is, and people attacking him like he's trying to call for some kind of genocide against people who are unhealthy.

For the love of fuck, it's like arguing with the religious.

This is not a hard concept to grasp.

I never said it "was my job". Keep misinterpreting.

All I've done is contend what you said.

Have you forgotten the bullshit you spouted already?

It absolutely is okay to talk about the bodies of other people. What you are saying here is that it's wrong for 'people' to acknowledge the issues other people have with their bodies. This is basically burying your head in the sand. This seems really god damn conducive doesn't it?

Nobody here said we should go out fat shaming, like you seem to want to insinuate though. But carry on with the bullshit.
