After about a month of my youngest daughter being home, my oldest daughter said to me to "take it back". It was her way of telling me to return her little sister to the hospital because she was over it already. It was cute, considering she was the third person that got to hold the baby and when we thought she was tired, she put her hand up and said "move back!"
I love memories of that. They are 20 and 13 now, but I remember it as if it happened yesterday.

I have a 9 year old. The only thing I know for sure is that parenthood is the toughest job you'll ever love. Also, Viva paper towels under a warm faucet make great baby wipes!

Ahem! My paternal instincts are somewhat completely absent. I have been feeling strangely protective of babies of friends and family though lately, rather than wanting to cave their heads in with a polo mallet. That's progress, right? I feel a kind of caveman "you not hurt little one" mentality. Not that anyone was trying to hurt them, of course. But you've seen my videos, if anyone tried...

Congratz, Lady! (if you were actually trying for it... which I guess you were, given the 25 tests per day you were having).
Never forget to spoil that kid! But make him/her behave!
Also, words of wisdom from the older brother - don't make that older kid become an adult, just because he's older.
Treat each according to their age and personality.
It's great to have two kids with similar ages - they can play together, watch tv together, one can help the other with his studies... you'll see
