I'm not afraid of terrorism, are you?

I don't feel obligated to take care of every human on the planet.  You probably don't either in practice.

You know, when someone says something like that, I have but one wish. That they are put in a similar situation at one point in their lives and everyone slams the doors into their face because it's none of their concern.

My family lived through it, some 70 years ago. Many countries slammed their doors and so most of them didn't make it. My parents did, with luck. So, excuse, if I read something like the above quote with utmost disgust.

You and I do not see the world the same way.

No ones talking about taking care of everyone on the planet, lol, stop.  We're talking about absorbing refugees who are running from mutual enemies...those very same people we'd call terrorists. When you see the villagers running for their lives toward your OP, you open the gates and turn your guns on them people chasing them...you don't mow down the villagers, or watch while they get slaughtered five feet in front of you...and you don't tell them "keep running..I think there's another post somebody else runs a few miles thataway, we've only got five potatos".

Or, at least, -I- won't.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

You and I do not see the world the same way.

You don't help people at the expense of your own community. There's a line you draw. I do see the world as you do for example, yet I don't think merging two cultures separated by some 6 centuries or so in advancement is the best idea for either of them.

But what's done is done, at this point. All we can do is make the best of it.

Just curious though. Are you even an European or do you reside in a country that accepted refugees or are you talking out of your ass? 'Cause if you are, please don't.

OK.

Obviously wasted on some, who fart into their comfy chairs and don't concern themselves with the fate of others. Especially if they are some 600 years removed from their own feelings of superiority.

I'm not afraid of being a direct victim of terrorism for the same reason that I'm not excited at the prospect of winning the lottery.

Math.

I am afraid of being an indirect victim of terrorism. Suffering the effects of cowardly, irrational overreaction to terrorism. That's been worse for the world in terms of both loss of life and property than the devastation inflicted by any suicide bomber.

I am honestly more concerned with the oncoming Machine War than I am about terrorism.
Whilst everyone is clucking away about the Big Scary Brown People, I am working on ensuring humanity's survival and eventual victory over our artificial future foes.
Thank me later, bitches...

I'd get offended if I didn't know your worldview to be so utterly simplistic I can't blame you for such a response.

I wouldn't say I'm 'afraid' of terrorism, exactly (and I've lived through several instances of it). What I am is concerned over how the threat of terrorism leads people in authority to make idiotic decisions, and leads the populous to cast idiotic votes.

I suppose you might say I have a fear of the fear of terrorism.
