Trump Speaks Like Regular Folk

Trump Speaks Like Regular Folk
I hate word walls as much as anyone else but I found this piece on today's Ace of Spades HQ. I found it unique and stated, much more clearly than I could, vague thoughts I had had about the way Trump presents himself. In summary, pundits and media types berate Trump as vulgar, crass, and most importantly, unfiltered. Like many supporters, and I admittedly am, I appreciate a leader that speaks plainly and sincerely even if often awkwardly. Trump is many things but no one can doubt his authenticity. And as I see it authenticity can be easily misinterpreted by people that carefully craft their every word to present themselves in the best possible light e.g. pundits, media folks, and other politicians.

When Trump says he wants to stop Muslim immigration, regular folks are smart enough to read between the lines and understand that he is proposing, without all the qualifiers and caveats, a reasonable policy of not letting middle easterners, who are by-and-large Muslims, enter our country without proper safeguards. In other words, he fearlessly speaks in public with the same frankness as normal people do in everyday life when they want to have a serious discussion and not just score political points or signal virtue.

Here is the whole piece:

So you found a Drumpf apologist and believe everything he says, huh?

That's about what I have come to expect from you.

I want a president who can speak above the reading level of a 7th grader. I don't think that's unreasonable.

I was watching that press conference live. I laughed. It was a funny line. I wonder if he ad lib'd it or had it prepared ahead of time. It didn't even occur to me that it was serious or would be a story, but then I saw it on the front page of CNN, and eyes were rolled.

In 2012, Romney said "Binders full of women" and people lost their shit, because they went full Zoolander, and interpreted it in the dumbest way possible, and proceeded to be horribly offended by that idiotic interpretation.

For whatever reason, perhaps it's from watching the media try to bury Bernie, only some of the solidly Hillary people are buying stuff like this, and it isn't gaining traction beyond that. Somethings changed, and it's tough to put a finger on. But it's definitely for the better.

Oh, be fair. Trump is nothing if not authentic. Authentically stupid, mostly.

The problem, of course, is that Kaine was governor of Virginia.

Well at least you know if he wins you'll be getting a genuine asshole, not just some sham pretender.

Trump is as authentic as a three dollar bill. He's a crook that will say anything if he thinks it will benefit him.

It's funny, Chad. I didn't take you as someone so gullible that you will consider someone as authentic simply because they pander to your ideals.

Well if Kane was trying to govern New Jersey by becoming the governor of Virginia, he really is incompetent.  However, if Turmp is running for president but doesn't even know who is the governor of the state where he does his most business .. well lets just say he is too fact-deficient to hold that office.
