I have stated a very innocuous position, one you would agree with if not for the fear inculcated in you by a regressive culture. I notice you didn't directly address anything I said, but continued to talk about what you think I'm doing and how this is really about you or me somehow - diversion tactics, plain and simple. I'm still waiting for this wisdom of yours you like to allude at so much.

Bold mine.  EP, this is why I asked you before if condescension comes naturally to you.  It seems like whenever someone disagrees you immediately insult them, then say something about how they're being dishonest or deliberately obfuscating their point (like you said to Bennyboy in the Agnostics thread), or you claim that your viewpoint is clearly correct and something is preventing them from seeing your obviously correct stance (like with Ham here).

It's only exacerbated when you admit just a couple posts ago that you "aren't the most informed" about abortions, and yet you accuse Ham of being dogmatic and claim that you are flatly and blatantly correct.
I said he was being dogmatic about something else, not about abortions.

Criticism serves its purposes. Dishonesty takes a lot of forms, a lot of them being disguised as politeness. Except the problem with it is it encourages laziness of thought and a feeling of complacency about one's own ideas.

I'm not dogmatic in the slightest of course, I'm very moderate and liberal.

Just don't go ahead and jump to conclusions, is all I'm asking. Chances are, I've thought more about the issue than you did yourself.

As about abortions, I believe that it's not simply a woman's choice what happens to her body, since it doesn't become just her body anymore once she becomes pregnant. I believe contraception methods are there for a reason.

What do you care about fetuses anyway, EP? It's not your problem, and never will be. You're not going to get pregnant anytime soon, are you?

I care about them just as much as I care about you or any other person alive. Does that mean I should now demonstrate that I'm every other person alive as well?

I care about babies but not fetuses. But I agree that it makes no sense to say you can't care about the issue.

I have a strong stance of pro-choice on abortion, and I don't have to be a mother to take that stance. Nor do the silly pro-lifers have to be a mother to take their silly stance Tongue

What I dislike about you calling people you disagree with silly is whenever I do it it's somehow a problem. There's an incredible amount of hypocrisy at work here, I think. But hey, doesn't matter.

I'm just joking around.

And what's to say, exactly, that I'm not, for the same reason as you are, namely that I say so?

Maybe you are. But I thought the tonguey smiley and the use of "silly" as opposed to something like "dogmatic" made the jokeyness clear.

I didn't say not to care about the issue.
