The end of the world
RE: The end of the world
(May 24, 2011 at 9:55 am)Doubting Thomas Wrote: Let's see, we have "God has shown us his mercy" because Camping claimed that he wouldn't make us suffer until the world is completely destroyed on Oct. 21, "Claim that something invisible and unfalsifiable really did happen" because he claimed that God did come down and pass judgment on everyone, "Revised date in near future" since he claimed the actual rapture would happen on Oct 21 when the world is destroyed, I guess you could throw in "All part of God's plan," and I read some of his followers claiming that it was a reason to believe more strongly. Unfortunately, no bingo.

Are we allowed to include an interview with a family friend? Because if so, if we combine good old Harold with this interview, I'm pretty sure we can make a bingo somewhere.

Quote:On May 21, this last weekend, this is where the spiritual aspect of it really comes through," said Camping. "God again brought judgment on the world. We didn't see any difference but God brought Judgment Day to bear upon the whole world. The whole world is under Judgment Day and it will continue right up until Oct. 21, 2011 and by that time the whole world will be destroyed.

Someone should put that senile old fool in a home.

Does this guy really hate this planet and everyone on it or is it just me? All he dwells on is death and destruction, and of course watching people being horrifically burnt in hell. This guy belongs in a mental institution.

Complete nutter.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence - Carl Sagan

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.

You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid.

But there will still be some which is the true tragedy of religion. At one level or another those people are just fucking stupid.

It's the end of the world and he "knows" it and he feels fine.

Seriously, this too is part of Christianity. It was founded as a doomsday/death cult by Gnostics who felt the material world was inherently evil and the goal of life was to escape to a better, "spiritual" realm.

I guess you can add "there are still people to be saved" and "actually a reason to give us more money" because he claimed they didn't reach enough people and they need to get more people to donate to Family Radio.

Funny how indignant he got when the interviewers called Camping a false prophet, then started going on about some demon he saw in the corner. These people are beyond hope.

I read something that one of the followers is saying that God answered their prayers to save world. WTF? They relish the end of the world and welcome it. People will do stupid things to keep their ideaologies intact.

Did you read the part when Camping was asked about the people who donated all of their money. His answer" They will cope" Is this guy a dick or what?

I think Camping must be a fan of another nutjob William Miller, who predicted the world to end 3/21/1844 and when it did not happen he re-calculated it to April of that year. These guys never admit the Bible is not very reliable. When Camping is wrong again I am forced to wonder if he will recalculate or just disappear this time?
