The Atheist Movement.

RE: The Atheist Movement.
Isn't not agreeing with each other part of the scientific method?
God thinks it's fun to confuse primates. Larsen's God!

You would know that's impossible, if you knew what religion really is. Wink

Having listened to Krauss over the years, I would like to think that he is a scientist of integrity.  I was really thrilled when he ripped WLC "a new one" back in 2013 in their second public encounter, just over 3 years ago.  I think that Craig really deserved that, because Craig loves to quote other scholars out of context, twist their ideas, etc.  On the other hand, Krauss' silence with respect to Kohli's paper (which he has been updating now for the past 2 years!) is somewhat deafening.  It's Krauss right, of course (to respond to whomever he wants, if it at all), but it's disappointing at the same time.  I guess that I had expected more.

I respect them in the same way as I respect everyone being good at their trade. They mostly are trained scientists being well versed at what they do. I may even be interested in what they say on atheism, but when I turned into an atheist, the internet wasn't even invented and youtube nothing but a (bad) dream.

I never needed anyone telling me there is no god and why there is no god. Science classes at school, visits to the museum of natural history and looking at the giant skeletons of Dinosaurs did the job just fine. My father always pointed out that they are millions of years old, just like the fossilised shells I used to collect at the shores of the primeval ocean I happen to live on. I used to collect them when I was quite little, again encouraged by my father.

It's nice that Hawking had assistants to get your question through to him. What if those other men don't? What if your e-mail went to spam? I feel like I could ask a hundred questions regarding that. I just don't think it's a reason to look down on them as public figures.

As I said, I don't think that Krauss owes me anything, however, he does owe his scientific colleagues, and so, my question to him was legitimate.  William Lane Craig, by the way, does not have that attitude.  As much as I despise Craig and think that he is a lying, conscious charlatan, he does at least respond to criticisms of his work and ideas, not to mention his large public outreach program.  While I think that some of his answers are vacuous and superficial, he does at least provide them.  On the other hand, if people like Krauss and Carroll are just finding their niche in the modern-day marketplace, then that's fine, but if that's the attitude of atheist authors (just to make as much money as possible), then it's self-evident why religious movements are maintaining their ground, if not gaining more adherents over the years.

Personally, if I were a scientist and had already dealt with a series of people like WLC, I would stop doing in favor of getting on with my life.
