Right now, I'm going to help myself. To a short nap. Really, it's best for me AND the community.

You don't have to help people from afar - especially if you're struggling yourself. You can help people in your own community. Some of us are in a position to help many. Some of us can only help one person at a time. Like I said, we do what we can. (October 11, 2016 at 2:00 pm)thesummerqueen Wrote: Some of us are in a position to help many. Sure. It just didn't seem like you were being fair to the people who can't afford to take the time or spend the money on it.
I'm not downplaying Beccs at all. I don't even know where to start, though, but I think I'll look into it. Maybe I'll tag my brother along or something, that should make it easier. I've heard that seeing someone else do it IRL can be the thing that gets you involved with and committed to your philanthropic bent and thoughts, if you have them. I bet that holds even when you do it with someone else from scratch - in an organized way, that is. I don't care to change your mind, and don't care if you see my point or not. (October 11, 2016 at 2:03 pm)thesummerqueen Wrote: Sure. I'm struggling to survive myself, but if I wanted I could join one of these expeditions, since they wouldn't cost me anything besides my time and the risk I would be taking. I'm not willing to take that risk right now, but I admire the ones that do. RE: Rep problem

To be fair, it really isn't my place to tell you what you should find ironic or not. So sorry about that. Old habits die hard. I was a bit more confrontational with this than necessary. Ours did school cleans, street cleans, homeless drives, book drives, school drives, food bank drives, etc, donations to AIDS orgs, we volunteered at shelters and LGBT centers - all kinds of things. It'll get your feet wet and open you to more possibilities. (October 11, 2016 at 2:14 pm)thesummerqueen Wrote:(October 11, 2016 at 2:05 pm)Excited Penguin Wrote: I agree. Not something my brother would likely be interested in. I might do this myself later, I'm sure there's a lot of work to do in that area especially around where I'm from, but for now, I was just planning talking to my brother about it and figuring something out that we could both enjoy and expend the resources to do - concerning helping other people. I know it sounds like procrastination, but I'm not really the type to start doing something completely new all by myself Plus I need to spend some more quality time with my brother, I feel like we've grown more and more apart compared to how close we used to be as kids. |
