How many churches/mosques/temples do you see everyday?

RE: How many churches/mosques/temples do you see everyday?
There are quite a few around here as well.  The one that is closest to my house always has a FREE FAMILY MOVIE night going on their sign board.  Always gems like God is Not Dead. :p

My favorite, though, is the one one the main highway called "Jesus Pursuit Church".  I mean, it's really called that.  It's one of the large, mega churches with a huge building and parking lot, and I imagine a bunch of old white people puffing around a track chasing a guy dressed a Jesus, in there.  It just makes me giggle nearly every time I drive by it.  I know it's actaully probably playing rock concerts in a desperate attempt to appeal to younger folks, but my imagination runs a bit wild.

If I take the interstate/freeway, by the time I get to my destination (maybe 2 to 5 miles) around 3 to 5.

If I take main arteries with cross streets on a 20 mile round trip, 1 per mile would be a good approximation.

In my area, there's a total of four churches and two synagogues. I see one synagogue and one church if I walk a short distance from my house, literally not even five minutes up the road. The others are slightly further out but still extremely close and easy enough to walk to.

We don't have any mosques though. I believe some Islamic group tried to build one a couple of years back but the building permit was denied and there are very few Muslims here anyway. As mentioned above, it's mainly Christians and Jews.

We don't get a lot of that in 'Murrica.

I used to live near a Unitarian Universalist church that had a permanent sign in front reading, 'Come In If You Must'. *sign* If only this sort of charming apathy would spread...

I drive 45 miles to work. Probably a church or a sign directing you down a road to a church every 1.5 - 2 miles {guessing}. No temples, synagogues, mosques. No catholic churches. Mostly Baptist. (Southern Baptist, Missionary Baptist, General Baptist - and they all disagree with each other}. Pentecostal, Church of Christ. Fucking inbred, low diversity culture.

Hmmm... Open or closed?

Lots of the latter (mostly former Methodist), one re-purposed as a mosque, some evangelical group is actually building a new one (lost cause..) other than that there is one Catholic, two CofE (One is definitely on it's last legs, not sure about the other), Baptists tend to be at the other end of town.

I basically have a 800 year old church standing in our bedroom. I always know what time it is even with my eyes closed - has its perks....

On the commute, the two churches in our town, in the distance the great Imperial cathedral of Speyer and a couple more regular 18th/19th century churches in the town I work, one lone Mosque by the Autobahn - shitty location.

I live in a pretty old area of Maryland, and there is a TON of Jewish centers and synagogues around my apartment. They have everything from Jewish Daycare to Jewish Hospice care near me, literally from cradle to grave.
