You and vorlon are a special lot. Wink
"There remain four irreducible objections to religious faith: that it wholly misrepresents the origins of man and the cosmos, that because of this original error it manages to combine the maximum servility with the maximum of solipsism, that it is both the result and the cause of dangerous sexual repression, and that it is ultimately grounded on wish-thinking." ~Christopher Hitchens, god is not Great

You could try using bigger font next time. Congrats, though!

I could, but why?

bummed

was looking into some possible vacation options for some friends and myself in the next year or two, not involving commercial airlines, and I'm hitting snags with expense time, and/or some medical issues one or more of us has

chartering a plane, oh boy, no way to make that work, ouch

renting a motorhome really adds too much time if used as a means of travel to a destination vacation, OK if the trip is the vacation, but close quarters for 10 days+ and we might not all be friends anymore and/or some med problems might arise if we're in a remote area

Amtrak, well, interesting option, except the medical thing arises again.  Possibly 'reversing' trip instead of all mtg in Midwest and heading west, some of us meet in Midwest and head east to visit 'med problems' on their home turf.  this solves most problems other than we are all kinda sorta really wanting to go west instead, and accommodations at destination will be tight, also, train ride will not be same without entire group

Everyone but me flies to destination, and I take train on a  roundabout route getting there.  I love this one, but again, now everyone in the group is traveling separately to destination, and that is a problem.

Or we book  a cruise.  That takes care of medical issue, and everyone would be expected to fly anyhow, so maybe that's the best, and I could still do Amtrak to port city . . .

I've traveled north for the weekend.  Didn't seem that far, but I have already noticed up here, the actual outdoor air temperature is the windchill at home.

It is lethally cold up here, and I'm not terribly happy to be having this (dumb) family thing going on right now.

I'm never coming up here in the winter, ever again.

I made the mistake of travelling to Chicago for the holidays many years ago.

Fuck. That.

It wasn't even that cold - relative to what it can get to - but it was ridiculously cold compared to what I am accustomed to.

A friend in Montana said they got 20 inches of snow yesterday and temperatures south of -20F (windchill -49F).

Fuck. That. Too.

I have had enough of winter, thankyouverymuch. Except it's still autumn.

The temperature here has dropped 30*F in four hours. 48* right now, and yes, this is one unhappy Texan for it right now.
