The Bible gives us more info about Satan than you might realize. The history of other religions. Taking what I know about each subject I can reason out these things, God gave us a mind to use not to waste.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

GC, I think you are a very kind and genuine person. I'm glad you're here.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

The problem with "other religion is wrong because X" is that it can be turned round and used against you. And of course, it is. We just have loads of different people from different religions claiming to be right, and no way for an outsider to tell the difference.

Not that I would join any of them, even if there was a real one.

Satan is not omnipresent so he can't effect the masses by dealing with people one at a time, ie. speaking to them. Satan takes on those who can influence the most people and keep himself hidden, if people understood he was involved they would stay away from such peoples. Satan is not omniscient, he is very clever as witnessed in the Garden of Eden. Satan can and would take the lives of all the lost at any given moment if God did not limit him, we know this from the book of Job. There are few religions that recognize Satan in their religion and if they did they would have ways to deal with him. If they knew of his influence in their religions they would run from it or accept the influence and become evil in their dealings with mankind. When one hears from God they need only to line up what they heard with the teachings of the Bible and know who they have heard from. Before you suggest that Satan could do this remember that Christ said, " a house divided against itself can't stand."

This means that Satan is limited in ways that God is not, and he should be far less influential-- God can speak to each of us directly in many ways, Satan must find less direct and less effective means of reaching people. If this is the case, then we would expect far more people to have found the same God and fewer people to be convinced by false ones. It doesn't make sense for Satan to be as successful as he has been.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

You are not thinking about man's sinful nature.God is calling man from his natural state and Satan sets up a way for man to remain in his natural state and separated from God. Satan isn't looking for a relationship with man nor does he desire our love (Satan is the great deceiver and full of hate), he only wants to keep us from God, he has no emotional attachments to us. God is invested in us and will work with us patiently, for many years, Satan wants only one thing our separation from God, he can never come to a relationship with God and is bound for eternal destruction, he desires to take as many with him as he can. God has given man a way out and at great cost to himself, the cost to us is to surrender our hold on our sinful nature accept God's free gift and live in a relationship with Him. Satan's only work is the same as it was in the Garden, deceive man into questioning God and acting upon it, we see how easy that man falls for this with Adam and Eve and their nature at the time wasn't a sinful one.

If only you knew what darkness lay deep beneath the depths of your soul, GC, then God could mend the filth inside it.
