In my belief on prison if the prisoners believes in incarceration to be cruel then he should be given the option to die and no this is not the same as the death penalty because it not a punishment it's a escape from pain and suffering . I believe prisons should be good enough that is not a desired option
As for those who argue cost. It costs more to put someone on death row then it dose to put them in prison and no speeding up the process would compromise the justice system massively. Id also love to know weather they are equally concerned about the cost of none violent or crimes that aren't murder at least. Do they believe they should be treated better despite the fact there acts are just as anti social and can cause just as much if not more suffering.

1.As for the concept of earning death. death cannot be earned it's not a currency nor is life a currency we have the right to spend
2.Another purpose of prison is keeping the dangerous in a place they can live without harming anyone else

You actually enjoy knowing he's gonna suffer doing life! You guys are scaring me now....
I'd much prefer him to simply be seperated from society, and efforts made to reform him (and criminals in general). Never released, but perhaps put to work within the prison system to contribute something useful. The thought of "leaving him to rot" for the rest of his life is equally as abhorrent to me as killing an offender. Criminals are still human beings, no matter what they've done.

That's another option but we best be careful we don't end up creating a prisoner slave class but the idea has merit

Too late, our prisons are already for-profit body farms. As this thread centers on a death sentence, it;s interesting to note that in some states, when a piece of human chattel cannot be rehabilitated, it gets slaughtered at additional expense.

Good luck there. A few months ago our government made big noise about "fixing" the problem. As it turned out, they were just consolidating the market for a preferred service provider who'd made significant contributions to the ruling party. For reference, they announced plans to shutter for profit prisons in the federal system. What they didn;t announce, was the even greater expansion of other for profit federal prisons to which the prisoners in the other facilities would be transferred.
It's going nowhere. Some communities are entirely reliant on the body farms. Everyone in town either works there or is incarcerated there. Representatives cannot pursue their communities interests without pursuing the prison's interests. This little pickle is repeated in every sector of industry, where our government finds itself outspent, outmaneuvered, and severely outclassed.
