RE: [split] Hitler had ulterior motives and really wasn't a Christian after all

Religion was only invoked because Germany was predominantly Christian. Had it not been then it would either have never been referenced by him, or insignificantly so.
Maybe he just became less devoted to his Christian followings so he mentioned them less. Yes, Hitler referenced Christianity because Germany was Christian, but that says nothing about his true beliefs. At the end of the day, you were not in his head, and any claim you make on his beliefs is just speculation.
twocompulsive Wrote:Also this : Himmler was a Pagan and strongly disapproved of Christian weddings for S S officers. If Hitler was as religious as is suggested, would he have allowed someone with those views to be given so much power and authority within the Third Reich ?
Hitler didn't care what your beliefs were as long as you hated Jews.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

In one sense it doesn't matter, since the many followers he convinced with talk about God certainly did believe. Even in the unlikely event that Hitler wasn't himself religious, the atrocities he instigated were still done in the name of religion.

twocompulsive - do you have the faintest idea what you are on about ? As Shell has put it, why do you even bother ? Everyone here - apart from yours truly - is educated so they can back up their opinions. You on the other hand are a pseudo-intellectual and that is putting it mildy. When was the last time you actually read a book - you know, those tomes that impart knowledge and wisdom ? No, thought not. Just do us all a mighty big favour and disappear. Now. Forever.

The German Christians supported the Nazis because they believed that Adolf Hitler was a gift to the German people from God. Hitler’s aim was to stamp out Jews and Atheists, 6 million Jews 20 million Russia were killed
Do the math
3% of the world is atheist today, with a short history
80% of the world is religious today with a much longer history
More people have died in the name of God than for any other reason
No contest
owwps, that last part should of went over to thread- Who Kills More, Religion or Atheism

Ah, it matters when religious people think that some horrific, gone-apeshit-dude is suddenly an "atheist". The truth is though, true wackos don't believe in anything but themselves and their agendas. Well, maybe in a god, but that just adds to their crazyness.
When I was young, there was a god with infinite power protecting me. Is there anyone else who felt that way? And was sure about it? but the first time I fell in love, I was thrown down - or maybe I broke free - and I bade farewell to God and became human. Now I don't have God's protection, and I walk on the ground without wings, but I don't regret this hardship. I want to live as a person. -Arina Tanemura

He didn't call on the atheist churches for support, however.

Or as we say from where I come from: "You need to be a bit crazy so that you don't flip out." But in this world and all it's power plays, who's actually honest?
