Well see, God doesn't want to talk to you because you have that shield up. He could, but he won't. Only when you're a true believer will he talk to you.

I saw the light just last night. I opened my heart, and God appeared and talked to me. He was a slim man, and he said his name was Nyar something or other. I can't remember. But the point is--he said that I should spread his word. It would have helped if he told me what that word was.... but nonetheless if you open your heart and let down your shield, I assure you that he will appear to you too.

It's weird God would give me this shield, that I turn on without even realizing it, hence thwarting his attempts to communicate with me. This seems like a rather strange and pointless plan. And rather a convoluted explanation for why he simply isn't talking to me, if he exists at all.

I don't know why some people assume I don't want to hear what he has to say. I'd be fascinated! Come on God, you can do it. Surely you don't need Drich's help.

It is rather sad he needs an army of followers constantly making excuses for how inept he is at everything.

I would think that a god would want to convert/speak to the non believers the most.

Maybe it wants to keep it an exclusive club. Can't just let in any old heathens. Got to have some to deride. We are not worthy!

I was a 'true believer' for almost half of my life. Are you going to say my heart wasn't really in it? It's so nice that you would know me so well. In all that time God never deigned to speak to me. I mean if he had, I wouldn't be an Atheist. I mean not sure what else this god wants me to do to get him to speak to me.

When my husband was having doubts about god--he prayed about it. Yet this god didn't speak to him either.

If his message isn't clear, what good is it?

Ah, see, that's the rub. drich would say that you were not worthy/special enough. You weren't playing the game right. Damn bottom of the bowel christians. hehehehe

I was a Christian for many years and thought sometimes that maybe God was speaking to me through things that happened in my life. This is one of the things why you have to be drinking the Kool Aid before god "speaks" to you. You interpret everything through the lens of believing god can and does send you messages. It's just normal things happening but you see god in them. There's a technical term for this sort of thing but I'm sure I don't know what it is.

But if we're to believe that god did things like flood the entire earth killing almost everyone (very direct) why can't he use that same directness and simply speak clearly and audibly?

I went to a Pentecostal Church for several years and the pastor there taught that anybody can hear god speaking, some nonsense about listening to his voice. They also believed in loudly saying a bunch of stuff no one understands- "Speaking in Tongues." It's actually a precondition for becoming an official member.

If God spoke to me and told me to spread the word, I would instinctively say:

Why can't you do it? Are your hands painted on?

Those people had no idea God flooded the world, Noah preached to them for 100 years and they didn't hear what God was saying through Noah. So are you like those who drowned with their hearts closed if so why, I would think no one wants to drown when there is a Life Saver to reach out for..
