If you are not, then it seems that killing people is really not your objection--rather that somehow it is not reasonable that God should be able to judge us.

Perhaps their objection is that the idea of a good God killing people defies modern humane intuitions of what constitutes superior/divine morality. Whether God should or should not judge us is not what they're arguing about. So focus on the argument at hand instead of trying to guess for them what they're really objecting to.

In other words, nice dodge, lol.

Silly me...responding to the OP with questions. Almost like I wanted to have a discussion...

What it the moral difference between God taking a life of a person as judgement versus waiting for some point in the future and judging them?

The OP is about the idea of God killing. Judging can be in various forms that don't necessarily involve killing. Again, the OP is about God killing not judging.

Or maybe it's that such an monster shouldn't be in the position to judge, no matter how powerful he is.  It's a moral objection.

Not much as far as I'm concerned.  They're both immoral.

Exactly, and it's a distraction anyway. SteveII is not addressing the OP. He is instead addressing a straw objection he feels comfortable addressing.

It's okay when God kills people because he's good by definition.

He could molest a baby duckling with an apricot in the most sadistic way imaginable and call it good.

Oh he wouldn't molest the chubby ones with apricots and call it good.

To the chubby ducklings he'd maul their skulls in with avocados and call it justice.

More precisely, we are talking about whether it is right for God to kill people. Since his reason for killing people is 'judgement' then I think my questions are very on point. Now, do you want to answer my questions or not (that's called 'having a discussion')?

Nope. If you're a believer and it (god) made humans, he gets to wack humans when ever it fits his plan. Wack, burn, drown, torture (that whole Job thing),.......

Remember, this is all predetermined. It's (gods) show, thy will be done. Humans are just pawns.

As you just said, the OP is about whether it is right or not for God to kill people. But more precisely, it is trying to appeal to your modern humane intuition to ponder this. Would a good God (if such existed) really kill people, judgement or not? Step aside from theology for a while, and see if the OP does make a fair point.
