OK, only applies to groups you feel sorry for. Got it!

Again, it's only cultural appropriation when it fits the criteria.  Whether or not I can manage a tear for a group is irrelevant.  Ya don't see me crying about those mules, now doya?  No one is stealing christmas from anyone..firstly...and the only people which can even be charged with the accusation, batshit crazy as it is...are themselves.

Spice this up, get something......anything.... right.   Surprise me with a salient point or observation.

Oh but we did!  All sorts of paddywhackery was employed in funding the IRA from this side of the ocean, institutionally and down to a personal level.

Criteria that conveniently never seem to show up consistently. For that matter, on what basis can a group lay claim to exclusive property rights to cultural products - like say the recipe for chocolate or Mohawk hair cuts or linear perspective or yoga or argyle socks, or double-entry accounting.

The criteria routinely show up as actual examples?  I'm not interested in bickering over any #alternative fact based histories.

If you cannot understand or do not find the idea of cultural IP compelling, in any case..even in cases of historic and current oppression....then obviously it's not a problem for you.  I can only suggest that this is an awfully convenient view for a raider to hold.

Cultural appropriation does make things better sometimes though, led zeppelin took all the songs they stole to a better level than what they were.

As for girls who use dream catchers it acts as a warning that she's probably into other hippie bullshit.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

Adding insult to injury, in that what is appropriated does then become a part of the aggressor culture.  The victims of this little escapade get to watch it happen. The inexorable grinding of gears strikes again.

It's a pretty decent indicator, as far as that goes, yeah, lol.

How do you work that out?

The problem is that fucking millenial kids seem to do nothing but look for things they've lost (read: not been given served to them on a silver platter). They sit around crying with each other over their $10 Starbucks about how their cultural symbols are being robbed by their oppressors-- other students, for example, or the University that won't make every fucking rule a recognition that the world revolves around them because they are such special snowflakes.

We all know this example I'm sure, but I might as well post it. Is there anyone here who thinks the girl was right to confront the boy in the first place?

Here's a more insidious one, not exactly about appropriation but in much the same vein. It really is chilling, at least to me:
