Hell is eternal in Islam; it's temporary in the biblical fairy tale.

And it's pretty well absent in Judaism. Hmmmm..curious?

RE: Christianity and Suicide
I think we're all just as confused as the theists are.
Is there many interpretations of the one only true god or is there lots of gods out there vying for our souls?

Every theist believes they're on the right track. Every other theist believes they're not. Go figure?
Don't panic theists, I promise you that your god is correct and that you're not going to hell .Happy now?
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.

Is whacking myself to avoid a lingering death still OK? Old farts need to consider these things you know.

Dspends upon your definition of whacking, I'd say.
If I were to create self aware beings knowing fully what they would do in their lifetimes, I sure wouldn't create a HELL for the majority of them to live in infinitely! That's not Love, that's sadistic. Therefore a truly loving god does not exist!

Quote:The sin is against an infinite being (God) unforgiven infinitely, therefore the punishment is infinite.

Dead wrong.  The actions of a finite being measured against an infinite one are infinitesimal and therefore merit infinitesimal punishment.

Quote:Some people deserve hell.

I say again:  No exceptions.  Punishment should be equal to the crime, not in excess of it.  As soon as the punishment is greater than the crime, the punisher is in the wrong.

I may cough a bit, but other than that, relatively painless and mess free for those that find me (as long as I poop and pee first).

When that time comes, I'm certainly not considering jerking off to death.

Thank you for proving what I asked, hell is eternal.

Sooo.. just so I'm clear, you are not the GC I was talking to in the link?

As per your signature, if you love believers and non believers alike, how are you ok with me and any non believers you know including suicide victims, being sent to eternal hell of fiery torment? Or do you disagree with the type of hell, the bible depicts that I showed bible verses in the positive for the hell of eternal painful torment in fiery brimstone punishment?

I pointed out the problems with their signature too. The answer is: Cognitive dissonance. The ideas that are mutually exclusive and make them a horrible little turd of a person yet still enables them to feel like they're constantly jacking themselves off in their minds because of how 'pure' they are. Laughably sad. And they think we're the ones kidding ourselves.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

---

There is no better way to convey the least amount of information in the greatest amount of words than to try explaining your religious views.

RE: Christianity and Suicide
Yeah its pretty laughable, really. But I get the concept of unconditional love. Im not going to give someone a hard time for wanting to love and spread love on this planet. The thread is about Christianity and suicide. There are so, so many children who commit suicide evdry day! Their lives so horrible, their only out is a jump rope and a closet hanger. Now that, takes some pretty horrific fucking life conditions. As a kid my grandparents took that out together too. Don't blame em, cancer and schitz and financial destitution with the only hope being living in a nursing home in the 80's till u die? Meh. They went out with a bang. I never understood why then they should have to go to hell for that. Why must those who suffer the most on this earth to the point that they no longer want for life--suffer in death eternal?

As I told my dad this month. I'd rather spend eternal torment in hell, than eternity in heaven at the expense of those in hell. Their laments and suffering could never leave my ears otherwise, which in my eyes makes me akin to being morally superior to god.

Big words, but if you cared that much about people you would be giving everything you have to help those in need.
