Life is meaningless for Christians?

RE: Life is meaningless for Christians?
What about human beings isn't physiological, or "just some internal wiring"?  Are you now positing that meaning does, in fact, exist in life....it's just not something that you take seriously, being as rudimentary as the rest of you?

Tell me, does atheism make your physiology or internal wiring go away..is that how meaninglessness follows from atheism?
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Is that what meaning is to you?  Just a bit of programming.  Do you consider video game characters to experience meaning?  If your bar is so low, that you consider Bowser to be experience meaning, then yes, I'd agree that that meaning does exist.

What meaning is to me is irrelevant, you offered two directly contradictory statements on meaning.  I'm just trying to get some of that rationality out of you, since you claimed to possess it. Still waiting to see how either statement might follow from atheism.

The trick with 'meaning' is that it's a completely unnecessary term to toss onto what's happening.

Positive physiological feedback is nice. So I try to get more positive physiological feedback. There's no need to bringing loaded woo words like 'meaning' into the description of what's happening.

Whats woo about meaning?  Are you just going to pile up shit without ever establishing any previous turd in the overall mound?

What's meaning "loaded" with, for example..in your opinion..perhaps this is the source of your belief that meaninglessness is a rational conclusion of atheism?

Semantics are sooooo fucking boring.  It makes me wish I was an octopus, so I could do 8 simultaneous jerkoff motions at once.

I think that octopuses only have a single wiener; eight at a time would likely hurt!

Oh, not actually jerking off.  They'd just be miming the motion as a way of saying go fuck yourself.  But they'd be doing it 8 at a time, whereas I can only do 2.  I guess you'd be simulating having multiple penises, but since miming the motion doesn't require an actual penis, I think it'd be okay.

I did google it, and there doesn't appear to be an octopus making 8 simultaneous jerkoff motions gif in existence.  I think if someone were to make one, it would be a huge hit.

I'm  guessing that "semantics and stuff" is as far as you were willing to take your ridiculous assertion about what follows rationally from atheism?   It's okay..people often say shit that they aren't capable of justifying.  A smart man once told me;

Quote:atheists are just as talented as theists at making up irrational bullshit to make themselves feel better and then believing it whole heartedly.
Seems he was on to something.

Sad I hesitate to even call that living.  If you need to somehow justify your present existence with some hypothetical future reason, and look forward to future happiness rather than fully engaging with life in the present, you're doing it wrong.

There may be an element of that, but I think the wiring has a fair amount of plasticity and that we can deliberately modify it with things like repeated actions.  (Either that, or my wiring has been optimized for woodwinds, chocolate, and insomnia...)
