Your implication is that the ecosystem is the grand purpose, Which is like saying the grand purpose of water is to be in the exact shape of the hole it's in.
Dumb analogy, seeing how water isn't classified as a system...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/System
Quote:A system is a regularly interacting or interdependent group of items forming a unified whole. Every system is delineated by its spatial and temporal boundaries, surrounded and influenced by its environment, described by its structure and purpose and expressed in its functioning.
What is your point? There are 4 Fs to nature -- feeding, fleeing, fighting and reproduction. If you are good at one or more of those (especially, the last one, which, in the natural world, often means the first 3), you pass your genes down. If not, on well....

Yes you can dumb ass if the system itself has no purpose .
Second your clearly blind because i said . JUST BECAUSE SOMETHING EFFECTS SOMETHING ELSE DOES NOT IMPLY PURPOSE !!!!
Third Systems of nature are a result of unintended action not though through idea's . Wolves were not put their to effect rivers it's merely the fact they do x that effects rivers and if they did not to X or did Y said effect would not happen .

Does not matter it still holds . Saying some thing is way X is no different then saying why the water fits the hole . So it not dumb you are .
And no pointing out things work one way constantly does not imply purpose . It only implies consistency.

Look you muppet, the comparison was dumb, a fair comparison would be to compare an ecosystem to another type of system that you believe evolved naturally, say respiratory system for example.
Do you believe the respiratory system serves no purpose?

Not giving a shit about anything isn't something you do "as an atheist" ,however. Your meaningless life has nothing to do with atheism, that's all you.
I disagree, an atheist really can't claim that life began by total accident and then claim life has a purpose... what is the endgame exactly? I doubt that life began by total accident and the notion of an "endgame" is similarly foreign, but neither matters since the meaning in my life doesn't come from any accidental begginings or conceptual endgames.
Quote:If we look at animals for instance we can see their purpose within an ecosystem, there is a reason for example that predators exist.
If you say so...but, why would any of this be relevant to meaning in my life?
Quote:The purpose of the human being is to serve God, and you accomplish that by living for others. If you live a selfish lifestyle then your life IS meaningless. Not to say there aren't selfish so-called Christians, but an atheist ideology could indeed influence one to lead or believe they lead a meaningless life.
That might be your purpose, it's not mine. In any case, whats missing here and from your entire post is a demonstration that meaninglessness follows from atheism.
I often find -and this is anecdotal- that atheists with notions of meaninglessness have been influenced more by your religion and religious claims than by atheism, in making such remarks. Wallym, for example, worries that the term is "loaded"...but loaded with what? Your bullshit, in all likelihood.

Life is basically meaningless (at least until the end), but yet, they are still going on a cruise here soon.
While I didn't watch the video (only read the transcript) I don't see where you are getting this... from this page.
But that aside, I wouldn't agree, that this life is meaningless from a Christian point of view. In the Christian view, I see a purpose, reason to be good vs bad, and a trajectory or goal to aspire and look forward to. This is in addition to any subjective meaning, that could be shared by atheists and theists. So I don't understand how one would get to less or no meaning when viewing the Christian worldview.

The general idea is that any value system which places some or a significant portion of it's meaning into another or next life is unlikely to have as much of it's meaning derived from -this - life as a value system which is entirely concerned with this life.

Did you read the very top of the page? It states, "This life is essentially meaningless. It's what happens at the end."
Ergo, there is NO end! No afterlife, nothing. That's what makes this so very sad.

Christian theology explicitly tells it's adherents to deny this life, to shun wordly things and concerns. To take meaning from this life is to palpably sin, to put the creation before the creator. All meaning must, rightfully, be taken from god, gods plan, and gods divine purpose. There is, as an article of faith...-no- meaning apart from this.
Show me a christian who finds meaning in this life, and I'll show you a degenerate sinner.

I threw a significant chunk of my life away on this bullshit. Better late than never (literally), I suppose.

So did I, though not in the same way, lol. Turns out, there's no money in it unless you're willing to con vulnerable people.
I'm not saying I'd take back all the time I've spent familiarizing myself with theologies living and dead (I greatly prefer the dead ones).....just noticing that I'd probably have more cash in my pocket today If I'd spent that time getting a HVAC cert or taking a typing class, lol.
That always strikes me when I see a religious person commenting on the shitty state of the world we find ourselves in as they see it. Imagine the man hours spent at temples and shrines, in reading their magic books, the absolutely stunning amount of lost productivity. Perhaps, had they spent that time improving the world around them (or their lives).........it wouldn't be so shitty. It accounts for alot of widgets that were never made...is all I'm sayin.
