I would never call it rape and I think anyone who does is simply trying to get a rise out of someone, but that doesn’t make the pregnancy consensual.

We don't know. Historians assume somewhere around 12 at the youngest to 16 at the oldest because she was engaged and that was the age when people got engaged/married back then.

Actually in that culture it would seem that 'god' owes her father some money.

I suppose we can't know for sure, but reading the Magnificat (also Luke 1), I don't see how you can reasonably come away with a different view.

Of course, "Luke" is made up shit written decades, if not a century, later which kind of leaves you up shit's creek without a paddle.

Sorry, I was just skimming through. I must’ve missed it the first time. As a fictional story it’s easy to believe based on the words that she consented. Thinking of it as real life it’s hard to believe any young girl would consent to being impregnated by not-her-husband being that she’s never seen.

The story itself is ridiculous to me, though. So I just continue to view it as a fictional story. And I will concur that it was consensual.

@OP- There are so many easy parts of the Bible that we can point to and say “hey look, that’s fucked up!” There are even actual rape stories in there. I don’t see any need to add rape where it isn’t.
