Why do atheists have aversion to the fact that there is an afterlife and that there is a god?

Quite frankly, Nimbus, I find it impossible to trust a god that would create a hell or require a blood sacrifice in order to forgive mortals for being mortals.

You also have a fascinating interpretation of the word "fact."

I don't believe in your god. I don't think that life after death is possible. I see them both as mythology, and I tend to get a bit irate when people present mythology as truth.

I prefer Odin to fucking Jesus.  Just as fictional but you get to sleep in on Sunday.

Well, just because you don't see something doesn't mean that it doesn't exist..... I mean you can't see radio waves; so, according to your belief, that means they don't exist either, am i right?

Seriously, Nimbus? A God we "can trust to lead us to the light?" Are you fucking high? Have you read the Old Testament? The so-called God of the Bible is a primitive, murderous beast. You'll find more enlightenment in a Johnny Quest cartoon.

Atheists do not have an aversion to the idea of an afterlife or God. We have an aversion to claims of such with no evidence whatsoever. Why do you have an aversion to the "fact" of fairies dancing underneath your garden?

Ah, but one can actually detect radio waves!  (Don't try to BS me on this -- I come from a family of scientists, including an electronics engineer, and I had a chart of the electromagnetic spectrum pinned to my bedroom wall at one point in my childhood.)

I'm not in the habit of believing in things that "might be" there.  I could waste the whole day trying to believe in this, that and the other thing, but the bottom line is that I am neurologically incapable of religious belief.  I've been this way since I was a child, if not from birth.  My bullshit detector is locked permanently in the always-on position, and as a result my brain cannot generate any trust or faith in things that violate reality and for which there is no credible evidence.
