"Get Out" won best original screenplay?

I remember everyone proclaiming what a wonderful movie it was. I decided to watch it, and I was disappointed. There was nothing "original" about it. It was just "Stepford Wives" with a cast of black people.

I never got the appeal to either Forest Gump or Titanic. I thought those movies were over rated. But again, all I can say is I didn't like them.

What screenplay do you think should have won instead?

Yeah I had high expectations going in to see it and was disappointed as well. I don't see how it's different from any other cheap horror movie. Still confussed as to what is supposed to be so great about it.

"Get Out" was the only one in the list of nominations for that category that I watched. As I've already stated, however, there was nothing "original" about the film. Perhaps the other nominations were simply slightly more unoriginal.

I liked it a lot. I was happy to see Jordan Peele get the award.

I think a horror movie that's a thinly veiled allegory about the bad side of being black in America just hit into the zeitgeist of these racially-charged times. Also, Daniel Kaluuya is an excellent actor who's finally getting the recognition he deserves.

I guess I didn't catch the allegory? I mean, I saw that they made every single white person in that movie evil and racist against blacks, but was there a deeper underlying meaning I didn't catch.
I will agree about the actor. He did a great job.

Original just means it's not a sequel/remake/adaptation, I think. Doesn't have anything to do with 'original' as in ground breaking.
