The prices in my area have been pretty steady at their current rate for a while, too.

Then you aren't paying attention.
This is just a month old and puts the lie to the supply and demand horseshit.

Nope. Simple manipulation by the energy companies looking to soak the public. Fucking scum.

Pfft. I'm paying $2.75 a gallon. Y'all can shut up with your cheaper prices. PA currently has the highest gas tax in the country nearing 70 or 80 cents per gallon.

Gas prices around here have been crazy the past few months. It might go down a few cents, but it's rising ten cents or more shortly thereafter. The news lies when it states, "Gas prices have been steady".

What needs to happen is the US needs to cut their dependence on foreign oil. We could do it too. But I don't think the government is willing.

A fill-up for me is about 10 gallons, so if I keep my eyes open and find a place that's 5 cents cheaper than the others, that's a whopping 50 cents. It's not worth it unless you're driving a shitload of miles. My wife used to be all over gas prices (prolly learned it from her dad) until one day I pointed this out.

Rivaled only by Chicago. I paid about the same just this morning. Then again, 10 years ago we were pushing $4 / gallon. I'm not complaining.
