I'm frankly not too lirterate. I like the feel and look of a book, but have little patience to read one. When I was 16 or so, I was given "Tales from Margaritaville", by musician Jimmy Buffett. I still kind of like his characters (I DO enjoy character development. Plots are a weakness for me).

Here's my serious entry. An hilarious self-referential story about itself:

Perhaps it is appropriate that this sentence gently and with no trace of condescension reminds us that these are indeed difficult and uncertain times and that in general people just aren't nice enough to each other, and perhaps we, whether sentient human beings or sentient sentences, should just try harder. I mean, there is such a thing as free will, there has to be, and this sentence is proof of it! Neither this sentence nor you, the reader, is completely helpless in the face of all the pitiless forces at work in the universe. I'm going to make an effort to read at least one story from everyone who posts (unless I've read the story before, as with Brew's submission). It seems like that would be a fruitive exercise.
