As in personal insights into why perhaps they're following a particular religion...or why they're not. Or why an atheist identifies as an atheist. It can be very personalized, and yet people can comment. It can offer broader understanding of members, and give people outlets to write and vent their feelings, on things happening in their lives.
The blog doesn't have to be spiritual/religious in nature, it can be about anything. It would be YOUR blog. You can post anything you like, within the forum guidelines, artwork...or a song. Or random thoughts on politics, etc. It would be your own space, but others can comment. Kind of like we do on the other posts?

agree with everyone's dreams but it still can't happen . Financially impractical.
and if we were happy to pay for a blog, there's already thousands of them out there for you to go.
The free ones comes with catches ... usually advertising or piggybacking of their hostname, etc. It's all a form of advertising.
sorry...
But by all means, it doesn't hurt to dream, right?

If you leave the format as it would be for a regular thread, the actual blog posts might get lost between comments. So, the general structure of the individual blogs, would have to look much different than the rest of the forum.
But I love the idea. I'm in support of something like this.
This is it totally. The comments would appear under the blog not to distract the blog. The blogger can choose to reply or not, but of course, discretion on the part of commenters should be taken into consideration. A blog isn’t a debate or even a discussion. It’s a diary of thoughts and it can be about your job, relationships, money, loss, religion etc whatever is on your mind.
Of course the same rules for posting blogs apply in terms of content. It isn’t to compete with the civility subsection, because that section would still be for discussion and debate. But I like blogs, they are cathartic imo.

I know the blogs you’re talking about and this would be way different.
Or you could have it like religious forums does it, a subsection called “blogs” and people post their blog as individual threads but that can get messy.

The blog/journal is more of a personalized thing. Threads aren’t started here to just serve as ongoing journals of people’s lives. The site would be cluttered with random threads and it wouldn’t be organized.

news to me
OK, that's even better then. Who needs a full blog anyway. As long as these have the main functionality, it's all good.

Yea I know the type of blog you’re thinking of. This wouldn’t be like word press or something lol
It’s just a fun thing to have. Each individual blogger would name his/her blog and each new entry would get a new name. Unless it’s in thread format.

Ok! I got it now! Create a blog section and limit the thread to one person. They can limit threads to two people in the debate forum.

I like the idea, but implementation isn’t as simple as flipping a switch. It would require either installing new prepackaged software (I’m not sure how well WordPress (ewwww) can handle potentially hundreds of users logging in), or writing some custom software. And then theming it to look more or less like the forum.
In any event, it’s something that would take some time and/or money to do.
Not saying it’s impossible, just that it’s likely a bigger ask than most people realize. At least, if it’s done right.
