So do I, actually.

Yeah, I like it too. I generally support what the civility forum hopes to achieve, but I have some reservations too. This seems like the best of both worlds: not censoring the forum, yet having a space where people can articulate ideas in an out-of-the-way fashion.

It would work. There's nothing to ''work.'' If people have a blog/journal, then they keep it going on their own, and if people wish to comment, they can. There would be no debate, but if people wished to engage in commentary, that's their choice, too. I posted on a diff site a few years back where the site gave the blogger permission to delete others' comments, that were inappropriate and insulting. Now, that could be great fun, here.  Big Grin

Yea, and you don't ''join'' the blog section. It's simply there, click on the icon, and create a blog. And then, manage the blog, as you go along. I've used this feature on another site, and it works great. I've had controversial commentary at times, but it's all good. I welcome it.

D, firstly, Tibs isn't here to cater for our personal blogs... Let's not make assumptions about the running of this site.
Secondly, you are aware that there is no way to stop anyone from posting any shit they like for any reason and it won't be against the rules?

Are you sure you want a blog under those conditions?

Other sites with more traffic have these sections. It’s not as unruly as it may sound. Anyways, it’s a suggestion.

Igs, I don't think anyone is presuming that Tibs ought to cater to anything. This was posted in "Questions, Problems, Suggestions, and Feedback." I think it's just a suggestion. It may or may not be viable to implement, but I see no harm in considering it.

My bad ...sorry guys... (I missed the category)

Speaking of which (and just to humiliate myself further!), I replied back with quite a long reply to a post on another forum, and then one of the posters said "but why are you sticking your nose in a female only category?" ooops! yeah ... so here I am! Big Grin

Sounds like the proposition is that it would have the same rules as the civility subforum. Only difference is it would be for personal blogs that everyone else can comment on, verses the civility subforum would be for discussion about serious topics. Sounds like the "censoring" would be the same though.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

RE: Blog section?
This idea could potentially work, if the comments were automatically placed at the bottom of the page, like in a real blog. If you leave the format as it would be for a regular thread, the actual blog posts might get lost between comments. So, the general structure of the individual blogs, would have to look much different than the rest of the forum.

But I love the idea. I'm in support of something like this.
