Logically speaking, the fact that no one from the future has come back to stop you could simply mean that your decision leads to the end of civilization prior to time travel being invented.

They came back, once, to stop me from making The first time-machine.
But now i still have to make it, so someone can go stop me. For otherwise how would they (and why) have travelled back?
