RE: The death penalty makes no sense.
How about only the prosecutor responsible for putting him on death row?

Think of it as a deterrent to any other prosecutor.  Wink
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I’m with Mooney. The likes of folks such as J. Dahmer, Bundy and BTK have no business taking another breath of our air. Why should they get the privilege of life when they afforded their victims no such privilege? They aren’t even going to die the horrific deaths they imposed on their victims.

I don't think that many people would disagree with you in holding that opinion.  It is still an opinion on revenge, rather than justice..and our justice system doesn't deal solely with Dahmers and Bundys, nor does it always accurately classify a person as a Dahmer or  Bundy.

I would bludgeon a person to death, slowly... if I found out they were a murderer. That's one of the many reasons I'm not in charge of anything.

Yeah, I’m not saying I’m okay with things as they are.  If even one person is wrongfully executed, the entire business should come to a screeching halt, imo.  If there was a way we could reserve it strictly for those like i mentioned above, where the evidence is indisputable, and the perpetrator is practically bragging about their crimes, I’d have no moral objection to it.  It is a revenge thing, I’ll openly admit. Maybe some day I’ll mature to the point of letting that appeal to emotion go, but it ain’t gonna be today. 😏

There's no if.  It does happen.  We've even executed people when we know that they're innocent. As an interesting aside..it's not actually that uncommon for a person to brag about committing crimes they didn't commit.

And if the conviction turn out to have been wrong?

I know people admit to crimes they didn’t commit.  I’m talking cases where guilt is indisputable. They exist.  BTK, Bundy, Dahmer for example.

The prosecution routinely contends that the evidence is indisputable.  Juries believe them. Turns out that it isn't.  I do get what you're saying....but it's unrealistic..and even if it weren't..as we're both comfortable with..it's still a revenge killing.

Addendum....I subscribe to the Kurt Russel theory of killing.  "Soldiers deserve soldiers..sir".  The only state sanctioned killings that should happen..are those between two openly declared state sponsored volunteers who decide to kill each each other.

I'm always looking for ways to make Kurt Russel make sense.  What can I say.  Wink
